  • Hi Guys

Just wanted to mention that so far i have claimed back £1100 from MBNA and im awaiting a similar amount from Egg, allthough Egg are trying to dig there heels at the minute.

I have also managed to claim back £600 in charges from Abbey all though this could be upto £1800(if ruling goes in our favour) and im also trying to adjust my council tax banding so hopefully it could end up being a good year.
My charges have been related to the fact that ive been trying and struggling with a business i started 4 years ago which has now closed, so rather than mis-managing my accounts its been more of a trying to survive for the last few years but hey these things have to be tried!
Thanks to Martin and his site though it has been so much help!
  • Hi. I'm new to the site and have looked to see if I can claim for late payment charges on my Barclaycard Business credit card. I couldn't see anything about this. Can anyone help?

    Many thanks.

Has anybody had any luck claiming from Beneficial Finance?

Sent a letter on the 3rd March asking for £490.00 to be refunded. They replied on the 4th March with a straight NO basically!

Have just sent a letter advising i'll be taking court action - but the whole thought of that actually happening scares me!

    thread here...

If a debt has been sold to a DCA then will the amount you win be passed to them as technically they have brought the debt off the company? Thanks

More than likely any monies reclaimed will be put towards any debt no matter who now holds the debt.

My hubbie was one of the many that had their account closed by Egg, infact technically it closed yesterday. He has it in writing that he only needs to make the minimum payment until the balance is paid off in full. I have already requested statements (and have received them) for his account. If he requests his charges back (£572) can they force him to pay back the total balance in full - £3000  Or will he still be able to pay the minimum.

Any monies reclaimed will be put towards the debt on his Egg card so this will help reduce the debt and provided he keeps paying them the due amount they shouldn't ask for the full amount. If they do this can be reported to the Financial Ombudsman.

Just received an offer from Goldfish and they've asked me to sign a form saying various things, including a confidentiality clause. Has anyone else had his? There's no way I'm going to sign it. If they want my silence they'll have to buy it.

Accept the offer if you are happy with it and score out any confidentiality clause.

Received a letter off Barclaycard this morning saying they are going to credit my account with £1140, I rang them up as i did not want it credited to my account i wanted it as a cheaque, they told me they were taking all the money for my outstanding balance can they do this ????
they said that because i havent made a payment to them since january 2007 that they are within their rights to do this.
they said that for the remaining balance of £259 they will pursue me with debt collection.

Any monies reclaimed will be put towards any debt held by Barclaycard so yes they can do this and I would make sure that at least the minimum amount is paid on a monthly basis or more charges will be placed on the account.

Sent a letter to A&L requesting £518 of credit card charges.

They have replied today offering £150 as a gesture of goodwill.

i'm want to accept this but would like to take it further - what do i write? cant find a template letter for this

You'll find several letters in this thread regarding refusing a goodwill gesture but carrying on with your claim...

I would send another letter and threaten with court action if you think you want to get your money back and yes do go down the route of the OFT after all they will be on your side, the bank is just trying to fob you off so dont give up;)

Just to clarify that its not the OFT you need to complain to but the Financial Ombudsman.
