Hope someone can help, sent 1st letter to L-TSB without the £10, just received this reply:
Thankyou for getting in touch, sorry you ar unhappy with our charges...
Tells me about card being free unless i go over limit etc...
Says L-TSB disagree's with OFT interpretation of the law, they made a decision to cut charges to £12. in June 2006. Because OFT made no recommendation about previous charges L-TSB do not plan to make alterations to any charges they made in the past. So as a result of this we are unable to offer you a refund.
They're sorry (yeh right!) they don't feel able to agree with my complaint, but if i have any information that i feel might lead them to reconsider decision to let them know.
If i want a copy of statements they will send them to me by 40 day limit, but i need to send the £10 fee.
Is this a standard initial reply, trying to fob me off?
Also i don't have cheque book, so would a postal order for the £10 be okay? if not i don't know how i can go further without a cheque?
Sorry i've waffled on, hope someone can giv me some help??
Thanks.Kat :money:0 -

I have sent the first letter to m&s and they have replied by sending me a load of printed guff - really hard to understand/read.
From what i can make out i missed 22 payments over the last 6 years but they only charged me 8 times - i know this is incorrect and that i had more than 8 charges applied to my account (m&s arent that nice!)
What do i do now - should i write to them and ask them to confirm that this is correct?
Also, i have sent the 2nd letter to mbna to reclaim charges from virgin giving them 14 days to reply, they had sent me a letter today advising that i will have a full reply by 20th march. Should i write again or leave it until after the 20th!
Any help would be really appreciated!

Hi
I requested copies of my Lloyds TSB statements from three years ago and after two weeks still had not received a reply so I sent another copy recorded delivery.
Had a reply stating that even after extensive search they could not locate my statements and needed more info. I then telephoned them and told them that by law they had to keep records for six years and as such they must have records there.
Late on a Saturday evening i then sent another letter with a copy of one credit card statement that i had found with all the credit card details on it.
The following Tuesday i received a letter that said even with the additional info and an extensive search they could not locate my statements. As they could only have received the letter on Monday and sent a reply the same day I did not think that they could have done such a search.
I phoned the credit card dept again and complained that the two letters i had were just to fob me off and demanded to speak to someone with more authority. I was finally put through to the supervisor who said that she would look into my case. Within a couple of days I received my statements free of charge.
I then followed the reclaim procedure using Martins templates requesting a refund of my £332 charges plus £116 interest = £448
I received the same reply as the one above saying they could not refund as they felt charges were reasonable. I sent a further letter as Martin suggests saying that I intended to take the matter further if i did not receive a satisfactory response.
I have today received an offer of a goodwill gesture, despite their insistance that they still feel they are in the right for £413!!!!! (total charges plus interest at bank base rate plus a further 14 days interest to cover time for me to make my decision!!!!!):T
Keep going and perservere. Don't let them fob you off0 -
Thanks Storm43, i should have tried to re-claim ages ago really, but when in a financial mess it's hard to know where to start, it's great to read about 'victories' on here, makes you feel a bit braver!! Seems it was a 'standard' reply to me then, will be sending a cheque off (friend doing me one) on Mon, recorded, and take it from there, they'd better have my stuff!! bet there's mounds of it lol. Will keep posting here but expect them to eek it out to just about the full 40 days they so kindly pointed out to me!!
Pleased you 'kicked !!!' with um!!Kat :money:0 -
Hello, I need advice about what to do next, I sent first letter to Lombard with £10 cheq & received a reply today with a tiny bit of statement 2002-2008 with overlimit fees - £60 & late fees - £90 total £150.
Here the letter they sent :
Thank you for your recent letter. I am sorry that you have concerns regarding the charges that have been applied to your account etc,
However having reviewed your case & as gesture of goodwill & without admission of liability or error, we prepared to offer the amount of £6.48!!! paid direct to your account (which we closed it last year) This figure represents a refund of the difference between our original charges and the current £12 charges & includes any associated interest charges etc.
Hope someone can give me some advice what to do next as I dont want the £6.48 refund although I paid the £10 for the tiny bit of statement!!
Thanks0 -
I have both a bank account and a credit card with Natwest. Last year I got 2 x £12 overlimit charges.
Is it worth trying to claim these back?
Will taking on Natwest credit cards put my bank account with Natwest at risk in any way (i.e. could they close or freeze it as I am being a "difficult customer"?
Thanks0
