Well you can claim for the charges but it depends on the bank whether it falls in their terms and conditions or not.
For information on credit card consumer guide search for heukcardassociation. You will get complete information0 -

Welcome, you still need a few more posts/days to post a URL
But whether or not such charges fall within the terms and conditions is irrelevent. An unfair charge is an unfair charge.0 -
Sorry if this has been mentioned already, but there's a lot to take in! It says in the article that as long as you set up a direct debit, you'll avoid charges, right? Because my partner phoned up her credit card company last night who told her that since she missed a £31 payment in April 2011, she has been charged a £12 fine every month since then. She missed the payment because she had a direct debit set up to pay the minimum amount but didnt have enough money in her account that month. However, the direct debit has been active and working ever since- seems like robbery to me...should we file a claim as in the article, or should we do anything else? I would argue that she's owed the amount, plus interest plus a good bit of compensation?0

Hello
I telephoned my bank Barclays on an unrelated matter and was told that I had 2 barclaycards from years ago. 1 was a Mastercard from 1992 to 2001 and the other a Visa card from 1992 to 1999. I was told that I had PPI on both of these cards. Barclays gave me the card numbers and I sent off a letter to Barclaycard. They sent me the questionairre forms to fill out which I have done. Back in 1992 I had 2 small children so would not have been working. I do not believe that PPI should ever have been applied to these accounts.
Just wondered if anyone would know what the chances of reclaiming PPI would be as accounts are so old and I no longer have statements anymore.
Barclaycard clearly know the account numbers for both these cards and that I had PPI on them, so I guess there must be some way for them to calculate how much I paid.
Any advice would be much appreciated.0 -

Have you actually read the article this sticky thread is here to discuss???
Could I suggest the article on reclaiming PPI might be more appropriate to your question

It's not when ''you could resonably discovered'' (sic) but, crucially, the Act states ''could with reasonable diligence have discovered it''.
As Wywth correctly points out one could, with reasonable diligence, have discovered the OFT's announcement and subsequent reduction of the charges.
Kleinwort Benson v Lincoln City Council is not capable of being applied in this case as credit card charges as are neither mistakes in law or fact.
And are Penalty charges ! Why do Credit Card Companies after receiving a court summons pay up incl paying 22.00% reciprical interest
Please do let me know a case of a credit card company defending a court action and winning (and not by default)0 -

What credit card companies do or don't do outside of court doesn't establish law or set legal principles.
To my knowledge the Limitations Act has not been at issue in any contested proceedings against a credit card provider. Although there was a PPI case against Black Horse where Kleinwort was cited and failed.

The principles of the Holyoak judgment (ie ''could with reasonable diligence have discovered it'') will necessarily apply to credit card charges as per my post #3031.0 -
Hello, I'm fairly sure I have neve had PPI on any credit card but I want to be sure. I have had numerous credit cards over the years and I'm being told that PPI could have been included in the interest payments without me knowing. I would never have signed up to PPI. Is it best to just write a letter to each company to ask if I had PPI or should I fill out a claim form? Cards are MBNA, Halifax, Barclaycard, Mint card, Sky card, BT card. Also I have been paying £200 per month for the last 4 years on my Halifax card and they have charged me £100 per month interest! Is there any way I can reduce the interest on this or claim for unfair charges?0

Payments for PPI would surely be shown on your statements if you were paying it.
If you would never have agreed to pay it, and it is shown on your statements, then you really should alert the credit card company to any unauthorised, or even just unrecognised, transactions on your statement asap.
Have you read the article linked to in the OP? It describes how you can attempt to reclaim credit card charges (over limit & late payment).
You cannot reclaim interest (unless as part of a valid claim for charges)0 -
