What PPI do you think you paid on a card you did not use?
  • Could someone help with advice. I took a credit card out through littlewoods (catalogue) years ago, and I'm sure I was paying ppi which they said I had to have. My problem is I can't remember the company the card came from and littlewoods no longer does it. Where do I go from here ???
  • Hi

I had a Halifax credit card from 2000 to 2008 and I know that I incurred a lot of charges. Can I still claim for this period?
  • Could anyone please offer any help/advice with a Citi Financial complaint? After receiving a refund from them after they acknowledged a mis-sold PPI policy, I remembered that I had also paid a hefty amount in overlimit/late payment charges on a Citi Financial credit card. I submitted a complaint asking for either the full amount to be refunded (plus interest) or the difference between the charges and the amount the OFT said was fair (£16 plus interest).

Citi Financial responded to my complaint and acknowledged the credit card number (I couldn't remember it, but gave all the addresses the card was linked to) so they obviously still have the information on file. Anyway, to get to the point, Citi have refused to pay because they say 'As there has been no default fees applied to the account within the past 6 years (which would be hard as it's been closed longer than that!) it's not their 'policy' to refund any charges beyond 6 years.

My question is, should I take it to the FOS? I don't actually believe the total amount would be much more than the fee that the FOS would actually charge Citi, so I am of the opinion that they may just fold if the initial FOS adjudicator just says to pay up to save the fee.

Any help would be appreciated. Thanks.
  • Please read Martin's article linked above for new credit card specific template letters and POC. When I get a minute I'll put some links into this post regarding threads on credit cards but meantime you'll find most of the information you need in the Reclaim Help Thread which is linked in my signature.
[I was hoping that you might be able to help to direct me to any of Martin Lewis's articles specific to my questions below that I blogged earlier.]
Hi all. I'm a guy of mid 60's & new to forums & blogging so I hope I'm using the correct online protocol in my blog.
I was nudged lately by seeing Martin Lewis on TV regarding PPI on Credit Cards & yesterday I laid all my past CC receipts going back to 2005 [I try to keep roughly to the 7 year rule] & was amazed at how many cards had PPI on them as either PPI or other wording for it.I hope whoever is out there can help me on a few questions that I'd be really helpful for your assistance.

[1] Is there a template letter out there specifically for claiming back PPI on CC.?
[2] I have receipts of Citi Card that morphed into Opus around the end of 2012. Do I claim Citi Card from Opus when claiming from Opus ?[We're talking big PPI amounts from approx' £50 to £120'ish per month]
[3]I had a "Monument" card that I'm unsure if they are still going ?
[4] I have an M&S card that pre-dates 2005 to the present, so I can't show evidence of receipts pre 2005, is that a factor.?
[5] I have an MBNA that shows PPI only once in 2007 & once in 2011????.....could it PPI be buried in some other charges elsewhere on the statement ?

    Many thanks

This is a discussion forum, not a "Blog". The post you replied to was written in 2007!

    Credit Card PPI advice article is here;
    http://www.moneysavingexpert.com/reclaim/ppi-credit-card-insurance

The link above should answer all your questions and provides template letters as well.

Taking time to explore this site will be far more rewarding (and far quicker) than demanding that others lead you by the nose!:)

No, credit card PPI is only paid in months when your card has a balance. It is not "hidden" in the interest. If it doesn't appear on a specific statement then you didn't pay it.
  • You need to read Martin's article, link in the top post, and have a read of the Capital One thread for other people's experiences in dealing with them.

You'll find the links to the main threads in the Reclaim Help Thread which is linked in my signature.

Thanks for taking the time to reply.
As I mentioned, I'm new to forums/blogs hence me not knowing the protocol.
I did try that link you listed but that page no longer exists ....I'll try trawling through the site.
On the MBNA.....having just 2 PPI listings.....I did have balances right through the period from 2005 to the present time, but it only showed up twice. Strange huh ?

The "reply" you quoted was written in 2007!

If you go to the link I provided above (post #3068) it does indeed exist (and has been updated regularly).
    Here it is again:
    http://www.moneysavingexpert.com/reclaim/ppi-credit-card-insurance
If you are still struggling click on the Banner at the top of the page marked "Reclaim £1,000's" in red. In fact click on a few of those anyway.

The "search" function is also useful:)

Aqua card have told me they are unable to offer a refund as they do not exceed £12.00. And they have closed my complaint. Is this right that I cant reclaim these?
