Hi, I have been reading about PPI, like everyone but found this thread. Am I right in assuming that you can apply for charges to be repaid on credit cards? I thought this had ceased when the bank charges claims ceased. I am thinking I am clearly wrong! could someone please clarify? the above link goes back to 2009 so not sure if I am having a blonde moment (and yes I am blonde) thank you. AND if this is right, I have a spreadsheet showing which cards I had approx. 6 years ago but no account details, can I write to each company and ask what charges were incurred? seems too easy if that's right - confused in Devon0

If you feel you have a valid claim, act quickly. As it says in the article you can only claim 6 years back (5 years in Scotland) - these periods are set by law.0 -
worth a stamp to each of them and see what comes back I suppose - don't want to pay £10 for anything more as I am normally fairly good with charges but you never know! I cant remember that far back to recall - will post as and when I hear more0

Just thought I would add some success I've had to this discussion.
I've so far sent claims to 4 different credit cards for the £12 over-limit and late payment fees.
The cards are Tesco, Capital One, Lloyds TSB and HSBC.
So far I've had full settlement from Tesco for an amount of around £220, this card only took 1 letter and they paid up.
Yesterday I received settlement from HSBC, which took me sending the original letter, followed by the letter threatening court action. They have now paid up in full, plus more! I asked for £138 which included statutory interest, yet I received a good will offer of £215! I can only think it was because they saw how much of a cash cow I've been in the past through overdraft fees and took pity on me.
I've had replies from Capital One and Lloyds TSB point blank refusing to pay up, so I'm now thinking of going the court action route with these. Does anybody have experience with these companies? Do they ever pay up?
Big thanks to this site for existing... I'm slowly getting back on my feet after years of debt.0 -

If you have a valid claim. as proved by a court judgement in your favour, I'm sure they will pay up.
If not, there are ways & means to obtain the payment under judgement0 -

I have experience of LloydsTSB in terms of reclaiming for someone else. The FOS are accepting that £12 is fair and if LTSB defend in court they will seek in all probability to introduce an independent report which is commercial property so you wll not get a copy of it which shows that the cost to cover a default is more than £12 and as a result of that you may not get the result you have been getting with others. I have to say I tried a few little things even with the FOS to get them to reverse their decision for a family member but ultimately stuck with the payout of over £12's because ultimately anything was better than nothing and there is no way to get round commercial property that is confidential.http://www.lendingstandardsboard.org.uk/docs/lendingcode.pdf

If I have statements going back more than 6 years can I claim the charges from MBNA ? I had a look through my old accounts and can see loads of £25 charges?, after 2006 they are then £12 charges.
What's the chances of MBNA paying out? There marked as late fees on my documents0 -

From the MSE article...You can go back six years in England and Wales or five years in Scotland; these time periods are limited by law...0 -
Hello, knowledgable friends. I applied for an Amazon credit card online in early 2005, they approved it and sent an agreement in the post. This agreement was already filled/printed out and i just had to sign and date it and return it. It stated that:
You have requested no additional cardholder
You have requested Repayments Cover
etc
Then it said, "Just sign here".
I am presuming that i "requested" Repayments cover in the online application, and that this would of been a tick box. Do i have a claim for miss sold PPI if this was automatically ticked? even though I then signed the paper agreement sent in the post?
I hastily applied for miss selling of the PPI and basically did not return the questionaire in time, not really knowing what to write as the reason. They subsequently refused on the basis of the limited information they had and stated that it was their final decision, referring me to the FSO to take it further. Really... I am looking for a valid reason to write back or to the FSO.
I believe from the date of the application, it was around the time miss selling was at its peak for various reasons, If I have no case, fair enough but i paid a lot of money over the years. Can anyone help with a valid reason that I may of been miss sold this PPI?
Thank you in advance xx0 -
