Credit Card Reclaiming Discussion

I just got a letter and cheque from Natwest and im very pleased with their offer.
Dont give up, success is still out there!
I claimed for all charges since 2004 including interest and those £12 charges. They didnt give me my full amount but they did give me more than my lower acceptable offer.
1st amount £705
Lower amount £524
Amount theyve sent £583
The letter does however state that any £12 charge from now on will be upheld and that they are not admitting fault, that this is merely a goodwill gesture. Who cares, ive got most of my money back :rotfl:0 -

Have had help re PPI now looking to do something on my credit card charges.
A while ago i spoke to a very helpful lady at Barclaycard who mentioned about writing to reclaim any default charges. She mentioned though that i should ask for either statutory interest or another type but my notes are so ineligable i cant read them.
Does anyone know what the other could be and if so which would be better?
Also is there a template letter available or should i just send a basic request letter?
Thanks.0 -
Hi Everyone
I need some advice about reclaiming a cash advance fee.
I purchased travel money online from MoneyCorp using my credit card. I chose to use my credit card for added security and for the 'advantage points' that my credit card offers.
Usually if there is a charge for credit card, the website will let you know ("+ £1.50 credit card surcharge", or at ATMs etc). However, it didn't. It did say that my bank may treat this as a cash advance, but being a bit naive, I didn't realise what this meant.
I purchased my travel money thinking all was well.
I have just checked my statement and the £603 worth of Euros I purchased has attracted a cash advance fee of £30.23!!
I called the credit card company straight away to see if they could waive or at least reduce this. Surprise surprise, they couldn't. Not only that, I was also informed that I would be charged interest daily at 29.8% until I had paid it off! Needless to say, I paid it off over the phone immediately!
I know it's my own fault, I should have looked into the charges more carefully, but is there anything I can do? £30+ is far too much to just hand over!
Sorry to rant, but I'm SO ANNOYED! I had the money in my debit account, I could have just used that. I pay my credit card in full every month without fail. I only use it for the 'points' which translate into money off vouchers. I've just undone all my money-saving hard workI'm gutted, and I feel so stupid as I'm sure this would have been obvious to most people!
Hope someone can offer me some advice?
Thanks,

I took out an RBS Gold Credit Card back in 1999, at a meeting at my bank we were given a leaflet to fill in, my wife filled in the details, address, bank details etc and we handed it back and the bank official told me that the card would be issued forthwith., after following the discussions on reclaiming missold PPI we have noticed I have been paying PPI since the date I was accepted for a card. I have sent a template letter which I had from MSE and have recieved a copy of my original contract, the PPI box has a tick in it which we did not agree too, I am self employed and was working at the time and my wife was in full time employment so we would not have need such an insurance. The PPI does not say what it will cost per month or what you would get back if needed so I am certain we would not have taken this option. Could youi please tell me my next plan of action.

I need some urgent help...
I have requested statement, which i have got, i have sent off my first letter asking for charges back, i have received a letter saying they consider the charges fair etc etc which it did say on this site they would say...
So the next letter on the tepmplate refers to my account being suspended, although the letter from my credit card supplier does njot mention anything to do with this...so the template letter on this site is not relevant to this letter.
Is there another template i can send for the next step ?? HELPPPPPPP !!!!!!!!

Hi,
I'm new to this but have been advised to look into PPI on CC's, i have had credit cards for some time flipping them about for 0% deals etc, things are starting to catch up with me now but I'm not sure where to start with regards putting a claim together as the cards have been moved about over the years, do I go to each individual lender (this maybe difficulty as I do not have all my records)? I dont want to employ a 3rd party to do it on my behalf as I will loose out if my claim is succesful. I have filled in 1 of the forms from here but havent sent it off yet. Would it be best to ask for all the credit agreements first off?
Thank you in advance for any help!0 -

Sorry, maybe I just can't see the wood for the trees, but I don't really see where in the article linked to in the OP, it suggests the credit card company will write back claiming the charges were fair.
The possible outcomes I see mentioned are:
VICTORY! You get all your money back!
MOST LIKELY OUTCOME! You’re ignored or refused (perhaps this is what you refer to?)- There are a myriad of tactics that card companies will use to dissuade you from carrying on. The most common outcome is you get a letter explaining that the charges were detailed in your terms and conditions so are lawful and that it’s prepared to fight.
It may tell you that you’ve no case, there’s been a court ruling, that it can’t provide your details, or that it’s satisfied with the way it's acted.
These are all common tactics using spin, spiel and carefully written scary notes to put you off. It’s all just another step in the dance. If the summary of the letter is 'no you're not having your money back', however they dress it up, then in the words of Kenneth Williams... carry on regardless.
It makes a partial offer
Step 4 (the next step) explains how to "carry on regardless" (if appropriate) and includes the appropriate template letter

Hi Everyone,
I havent been on here for a while due to personal reasons, but would like to start by saying thanks for the help given with one of my previous quests to reclaim my PPI form Barclaycard. After a few months I finally received compensation of £121.63 which is better than a kick in the teeth. But now I am having problems with EGG after finally getting in touch with them they have turned down my claim saying that as the application was done online I must have ticked the box myself or had agreed to PPI and as it was online no advice could have been given and it was solely my own choice. I am looking to contest this by writing a letter to Ombudsman but would like some advice as what to include. The card was taken out a long time ago and cant remember whether or not there was a box to be ticked but I was in steady full time employment and in good health. Sorry for the long post and if its not in the right place I apologise any help would be greatly appreciated.0 -
