Credit Card Reclaiming Discussion

About eight years ago I had a credit card which I defaulted on. This was eventually paid off in full. I tried to claim back the charges etc but they said I could not due to the default on this account.
Can anyone tell me if this is correct
Many thanks0 -
Hi I am looking to reclaim from MBNA and Halifax. I am not sure if I took out PPI however I think I did initially however the interest rates are a joke. I have had £5000 on MBNA for the past 6 years and although I pay the minimum amount monthly the amount owing has not reduced, on my Halifax card it goes up month on month. So in all I have paid about £11,500 for a £7000 bill for 6 years and now I owe more than I started with. Any advice and a letter template would be most appreciated.
Thanking you in advance0 -
Hi
Can anyone offer an opinion as to whether I have a case to claim credit card charges?
For years I have been making payments to my cc company, initially capital one the lloyds took over the account but have always been late with the payment because of the day of the month on which I get paid. Ive never had sufficient income to 'get ahead' with payments but get slapped with a late payment fee each month. There is a history of regular payment on the same date each month.0 -

If you can't pay at least the minimum payment every month, it sounds like you are in deep debt trouble.
Address that today by visting the Debt Free Wannabe board, post your SOA on there (details in one of the sticky threads there) and make today the first day towards a debt free future.
I will look forward to your posting there0 -
I have recently received the response from RBS for my ppi claim. I had the creditcards for over 12 years, i have probably paid late a couple of times and in my younger days would sometimes only make the minimum payment!!! I never claimed on the PPI, when completing the claim form it asked if i was to be unemployed/sick how would i pay my cc of which i answered that my partner would of helped me to do so (which when i was pregnant with my first child, he actually paid my balance of approx £1000 off for me). My claim has been declined based on : they did not sell the credit card as it was done so on an unadvised way?..they do not believe that my partner could of paid it for me!.....that i was provided with a ppi policy which fully outlined the policy and its benefits and it was upto me to decide if it was suitable to me (i have no such policy and never have) and the fact that i have had the ppi in place for the duration and i have failed to review its suitability and i have never cancelled it. Bizarely last week for the first time ever i received an annual review letter of the ppi and how i should check the suitability and my right to cancel (which i have now cancelled). I plan to appeal the decision but need some advice on how to go forward with it, can anyone help please???0

hi
i was wondering if someone might be able to point me in the right direction?
i placed a PPI complaint in April for a credit card i have had for 12yrs, the complaint was turned down, and i have been on the phone weekly trying to establish some simple details. in the letter sent back they stated that i had ticked the box for PPI, i dont recall doing this, as i have never been in a financial position to need the PPI, i have been asking for a copy of the original application for my piece of mind, and they are not able to provide me with this. i have convinced them to re look at my complaint, and have now recieved another letter stating that the extra information was useful, but the complaint has again been declined.
what should i do now, as they obviously still cant provide me with a copy of the application. are they just fobbing me off. i am getting a little tired of it all now. i would just leave it, but i have had a lot of money on this card over the years, and paying 28p out of the pound every month is a large sum of money.
any help would be gratefully recieved
thanks in advance0 -
I wrote to my Credit Card company asking for a refund of £300 of late payment and over limit fees. They wrote back to me offering me £600 for all the charges plus interest and have also reduced my interest by 1%.0

Hi
New here!
Bit confused - I have had a LOT of credit cards over the past few years and don't totally understand what it is I may be able to claim for..?
As far as I know I was charged interest and occasional late payment fees.. not sure about PPI - any advice on how I could proceed especially when all the cards are now closed?

Hi I have written to my credit card company(Barclaycard) who have told me that they don't believe I was miss sold ppi as when I took out the policy I filled out an application and ticked a box for the ppi so told me to write to the ombudsman! What can I write on the form which suggests I was miss sold ppi? I told them that there was not enough information about what ppi was!
I keep thinking maybe I should have gone to a company to claim it back for me!!0
