  • Hello Everyone.
I'm a total newbie to this, I just wanted to see if anyone could give me the advice I require.
I had been wondering for sometime if I had been paying PPI on an old MBNA EBL card that I used to have and I recently came across a statement dated 2010 that states that I was, I got married in July 2010 and got a bank loan around June to pay off card and the rest would go towards the big day itself. The bills would always go to my mothers address so the card itself was taken out prior to 2002 which is when I moved to my current address, so I have been paying PPI since I got the card. Do I have grounds to claim back this money, I never claimed on it and have been employed since before getting the card. I read somewhere on the site that I would need a credit history report and another post stated that a customer rang MBNA directly. I'm just so confused, some people have stated on here that they knew how much they were claiming back, I myself would have no idea how to work that out. So basically I would like to know were I stand in regards to making a claim and what should my next steps be in regard to getting this money back....if possible!
Thank you for your time and patience, any advice and replies would be greatly appreciated.

They've used right of setoff, incorrectly though if you have paid the debt in full and even more incorrectly if the debt was actually sold to the dca.

Send B'card copy of your correspondence proving that the debt paid in full and request your refund be paid into your account asap.

Follow all advice for reclaiming PPI on this including getting all your data held on file so you can work out what you've paid.
  • Hi All,

I am after a little advice please.

I recently came across an old credit card that I think I had PPI on and I know for a fact I was charged a ridiculous amount of charges practically every month!

I have rang the Lloyds PPI line tonight and they can't give me any info at all as the card ended in 2009 and have asked me write to Credit Card Services which is fine.

I would like to get the statements from this account (they told me would cost £432!!) I told them it would be £10 under the data protection act!!

Anyway, what should I request in the letter? Should I tell them that I want to statements to check the charges with a view to claiming them back, AND that I also want confirmation of PPI on the card to claim that back as well?

Or should I do it separately (even though it's for the same credit card)?

Also which letter should I sent for my initial contact with Lloyds?

Sorry, I'm new to this claiming malarkey and want to go solo!!

    Many thanks x

    'Claiming Malarky':( :(:(!!??

Statements don't cost £10 under the data protection act.

    Check out the MSE site.

and read all the advice on there including what to actually ask for. (not specifically statements)
I wouldn't play out your hand initially by telling them you intend to try to reclaim, although they will prob.guess anyway.
Use the template SAR letter on MSE site, tailoring to suit.
PPI and credit card claims should be kept separately I feel.

If it is just a list of charges you want, then include a cheque for a tenner with your letter. I sent of three letters recently (using the template from this site) and only one company cashed my cheque. The other two returned the cheques with a list of charges. Good luck :)

I am more confused than ever on PPI claims...

I obtained a credit card online way back in 2002; or there about, and since then I have paid off everything in full each month. However I still get charged PPI every month. So my question is:

Can I claim this PPI back?

I cannot seem to find a definitive Yes or NO to this question.

    Please help...

Apologies if I have written in the wrong place Myself and my husband are trying to reclaim credit card charges from MBNA and Lloyds TSB. We are at the stage of court action and this has been logged with the court TSB have decided to defend and we have a questionaire to complete. MBNA did offer a very small amount and we sent this cheque back to them and said that we will continue to court which is what we have done, they have said that they will defend their case but have sent a cheque which they have said is a full a final settlement of the complaint. The amount they have sent is a long way from what we feel we are entitled to. They have told the court that they have sent a cheque as a goodwill gesture. Question do we cash the cheque reply to them and the court saying that we will accept as a part payment and continue with court action. or do we return the cheque to them. Have many gone all the way through the court system.
    Many Thanks
