  • Hi All,

Wondering if someone could advise. Over a month ago I sent off a SAR and cheque to my bankers; HSBC, I was wanting information relating to the several loans I have had with them over the years and was going to reclaim the PPI.

Go home tonight to find a letter from HSBC, saying they are sorry I want to complain, and could I complete the attached request form.

The form they sent is the basic "Payment Protection Insurance Consumer Quesionairre" that can be found anywhere on the web.

They have not sent any of the information they should have under the SAR.

    How do I stand ?

Is it accepted for them to deal with PPI Claims this way ?

    Any advice is appreciated.

    Thanks

  • Hi, I'm currently on a DMP with CCCS but feel I could pay back a chunk of it by reclaiming my credit card fees - I had 13 credit cards:eek: my question is though who would I send the subject access request to? The original credit card companies or the Debt Management Companies that now handle the debts?

  • Hi all.

    Quick question!

I have successfully claim back just the £12 charges from Tesco and Mint for charges over the last 3-4 years.

I have also tried to claim just £12 charges back from, Egg - now barclaycard, MBNA, and Halifax - they have all truned me down after sending all the template letter, court action letter ect.

I have now filled in the FOS forms for each one and posted them off this morning.

My question is, has anyone successfully been able to use the FOS to claim back just the £12 charges?

    Thanks

so, finally got two replies from lloyds and barclaycard regarding my PPI reclaim

lloyds - sent two letters, one saying they will respond in 3 weeks (cheeky mares are already on their second letter) and another waffling on about how the £12 charges are fair...I wasnt requesting a refund of charges as a) I dont have any with that card and b) I was talking about my PPI insurance, a completely different charge altogether!!

Barclaycard - latched on to point 1 of 5 where I said I didnt recall having a choice for PPI. They say as I signed up online (it was so long ago I wasnt sure what was shown to me, hence leaving that bullet point in the claim letter) I was apparently fully aware and as due to this they cannot uphold my claim. So they are brushing past the other 4 complaints, one of which even says 'I felt my application would only be successful if I took out PPI'
They ignored the last 4 and say they will not enter into any further discussion - has anyone wrote back to a company who said the same thing and have they infact been ignored? or is it jut a scare tactic?

am still waiting for feedback off my other 3 card claims so lets hope I have more luck with them else the ombudsman will be very busy with my complaints

Hi, Yes I have had a similar "your signed up online and ticked the box" response from capital one.

So they said the matter is now closed.

Has anyone had success with accounts that were from online applications?

  • Hi All
I havent been on this site for long. Hope all you had a good christmas & new year. My hubby had PPI on his Barclay credit card. he wrote to them to cancel it and to reclaim the PPI back. This was in July 2010, they did reply to us, giving dates for further reply. the last letter we received was last year, that was just after they Banks lost their case with Ombudsman. we have been trying to call the number they quoted on the letter, the telephone number doesn't seem to work..its been nearly 1.5 years since we started complaining. we do not know what to do. as the finance situation is getting tight and tight, it would be a massive help to receive the money. Please HELP us. Please ADVISE us what we should do, we have wrote few letters since then, no acknowledgement for our letters at all.
  • I claimed unfair charges back from barclaycard last year. They coughed up £850 and MBNA £70, Result! Took care of the massive gas and leccy bill off Sc*ttish P*wer. I reclaimed thru a company called Claims Financial:dance:
  • So i take it from reading some of the more recent posts, people are still filing for Credit Card Claims and some are still winning? The reason i ask is that the information on the Credit Card Claim page hasnt been updated since Jan 2009 so i was wondering whether it was still worth a shot at it. Most of my charges were for the £12 late payment fees from when i was unemployed due to illness although being unemployed again i have recently encurred a few charges again which has re-sparked my interest in this subject.
  • My dad has had lloyds tsb credit card for last 12 years, it is still active but has prob only been used one or twice in last 6 years, but the 6 years prior to that he was always quite near his limit of £15,000 at times, and paying PPI which he believed was compulsory, even although he got full pay if absent from work, and it contributed to financial problems he encountered at that time. PPI is still on the account but haven't really been any charges last 6 years because he's not been using card. Question is can he claim back any of the thousands he paid in the 6 years prior???
