Hi Guys,
Well just had an interesting conversation from Capital One, apparently a letter was sent to me on the 11th November offering ,me a refund of £840.96 in respect of credit card charges. I requested £1091.81, not sure where they got their figure from, but hey who am I to argue. This is my first succesful reclaim, so am chuffed to bits !! Ready and raring to go for the rest for the rest of them now ! Halifax next on the hit list with Court Action, I will be doing that tomorrow.0 -
Hey guys
Not sure if this is the right place to ask this question but I have had a Littlewoods catalog account for about 20 years and I know that I once had PPI on it and that I have definately incurred late payment charges in the last 6 years. Does anyone know if it is possible to make a claim against them for unfair charges and if so is it the same process as for a credit card?Home is the nicest word there is- Laura Ingalls WilderMortgage Dec23 £97,696 Overpayments: Dec23 £500

hi there everyone, my mum has a clydesdale credit card, she has had it for years, but recently retired from the nhs at age 67/8. she telephoned bank and they said they would pay her 2 years ppi back. they then called her 2/3days later and said they would not be refunding her anything as shes over 65? is this correct, she still uses the card. she doesnt have original agreement as it was so long ago, so she has no way of knowing how she should follow this through.
thanks in advance0 -

I have been contacted by Tucan recently, well that what they said anyway. They told me it was about my claim for PPI,( but i hadn't made a claim). This man then told me(supposedly) how much credit that i took out since 1995 and was going to send me a pack out for me to sign, he had my name and address but wanted me to confirm it was me and the correct account by me telling him my account card No. Of course I did not give it to him, so he gave up and just said we'll send the pack out anyway.
It sounded like a SCAM and probably is, but had me doubing myself about making the claim.
WATCH OUT.. if similar happens to you -report it.
A reputable company would not make these kinds of under-hand tactics.0 -
1) I have 'balance cancellation cover' on a BHS/Santander store card that I'm still paying. Can I claim this??? I wasn't told anything...it just appeared on the statements!!!
2) I don't see any reference to PPI on my NatWest and Cahoot credit card statements...does that mean I have not been paying PPI or are they included indirectly???
3) I have a second store account that was set up in 2004 when I went to get some carpets for my new home. Again, no reference to PPI on the statement but the small print on the back reads as follows:-
Application of Payments
If you do not pay off your balance in full, payments we receive are applied first to Payment Protection Insurance premiums, then to Default and other charges, fees, interest etc, etc...
4) I have paperwork for a £3,500 loan I took out in 1998. I paid £553 PPI...is this reclaimable or is 13 years too far back???0 -
Hi just a general enquiry here. If you are claiming ppi on a card/loan you still owe on and they agree to pay out will the amount be wiped off the amount you owe or will you get the amount back? Does anyone know how this would wotk thanks!0

Barclays
I had taken out a loan with PPI from the above bank during the late 80's over 3 years. Unfortunately i lost my job with approx 8 months of the loan to pay. I then contacted the bank and the PPI kicked in without any problems.
About a year later i received a letter from the bank saying that i owed them money for the loan, i rang them imediately stating that i had taken out PPI and that i was covered for the outstanding amount. The bank then threatened me with court action to which my reply was "GO AHEAD". I was summoned to court and asked about the PPI and any paper work signed, unfortunately i could not produce such documents but pleaded my innocence.
The Judge then asked the bank to produce their documents which they had not taken to the court, so the judge adjourned until they produced the relevant papers. It is nearly the end of 2011 and i have not heard from the court or the bank since.
Basically the bank tried to get me to pay a fee which i did no owe.
The moral of this story is do not trust the persons on the other side of the phone, if they state something to you that you know is false, get them to put it in writing. We all know that they will not do that because that is deliberately misleading people.
GOOD LUCK TO EVERYONE WHO IS CLAIMING, THE BANKS WERE NOT COMPLAINING AT THE TIME THEY WERE MAKING MONEY.
Just be aware they are in the business of making money and will be working on ways of getting their money back !!

Hi,
New to this site and after some advice. I have had a Barclaycard for years now and for the majority off the time have been over the limit and missing payments, inccuring both late payment and over limit charges. What are my chances of recovering these back(both arounf £12 each i think).0
