I got a phone call saying the £12 charges are fair and I wont be getting anything back, I explain my financial situation and she was a nice lady, its around £300 I'm technically owed, I'd dearly love to get this money back, so whats my next step then please? court? thanks all in advance
  • Well Im still trying the Ombudsmen route with HAlifax. Had another letter fromt hem today advisign that Halifax have until 11Nov to make me an offer or provide them with detailed information re the charges.

Capital One have also very swiftly replied to me today re my reclaim of approx £1400 in charges, offering £58.25 !! Think thats a no then !

Im tempted to go the court route online, has anyone else done it, its just filling in forms and submitting, upfront cost but refundable if you win, which is quite likely by the looks
  • Hi Guys, I've followed the process on the site about working out the interest and payment for PPI and the loans.

However my situation is a little different as five loans were taken out in a period from 2002 -2007 onwards and I am calculating for a friend.

    As follows

    01/04/2002 Loan 8,000, PPI 1,840, Interest 11.9 (Building Improvements)
    18/04/2002 Loan 10,000 PPI 2,300, Interest 9.90(Building Imp)
    20/06/2004 Loan 12,000 PPI 3,030 Interest 8.9(Internal Debt)
    23/01/2007 Loan 10,000 PPI 0, Interest 6.9 (Internal Debt)
    2007 onwards Loan 13,650 PPI 0, Interest 6.9.(Internal Debt)

As you can see its has grown quite a bit can I ask if I can claim for the fact the loans were paying for the previous ones as you can see Internal Debt was used to pay for the previous loan etc..

I calculated just on the PPI I should get about 9,700 if the claim is successful, however I'm wondering if this is the correct calculation.

Any advice is helpful, the loans were taken out in a joint name, but one person was retired, and some times self employed (and no work regular income to pay, the other was working.

    Thank You.
  • Hi, not sure if I'm posting in right area. I have a First Direct Credit card whic h I cleared & stopped using last year. Looking back I see I have a 'Balance Protector Premium charge', is this the same as PPI and if so can I claim as I don't remember being sold it.

    Thanks if anyone can advise

hey guys - quick question (apologies if its been answered but there are a LOT of topics/articles to fish through

I'm about a week away from the deadline for hearing back on my first PPI complaint; are there any template letters I can send now as a reminder in hopes of getting a response?
Would much rather re-print everything, and resend before the deadline in hopes it may light a fire under certain bums as the deadline is so close.
    thanks in advance

    Hi,
Over the last 16 years I have had various loans, bank accounts and credit cards. Many of these attracted charges and subsequently spiralled out of control. In the last 5 years I have paid them off in full, no full and final just paid off debts. Can I claim back the charges on these even thou they are so old. Now that I am retired i have the time to challenge the banks and feel ready to do it if I can. Many thanks.
  • I wondfer if anyone can help me? I was succesful in a clam with HFC for a loan I took out with HSBC, I was rewarded £900 but I have now been told that payment has been paid on a outstanding payment that is still going on for a credit card....Can they do that seeing as it a complantly different account and I took out the loan with HSBC and the credit card with someone else?

Please help as I am really going bad here:mad:.

    Thankjs in advance.
  • I origionally had 2 creditcards 1 barclaycard, 1 goldfish- I was forced to leave my job (due to problems with my sons behaviour and my being called into school constantly). When my finances changed I informed both cards I was unable to repay in full and requested that a monthly payment was set up also I cancelled my insuance. At this point I was told the insurance would not be of use as I had left my job voluntarily blah blah , which Is why I cancelled the insurance voluntarily.
Over the next few years I had one problem after another with both cards- they would sometimes take extra money from Barclays bank account (so I had to open a new account, though i am not proud of it at the time i was claiming income support and to find the little lifeline I was getting gone when I came to get it was very disstressing, although I was told by barclays they could not discuss nay credit card details as the bank and credit card company were two differnt things they still allowed the credit card company to take money from my pesonal bank account).

The situation continued with ridiculous charges, ie, I would pay £20 they would charge £19 every month, I was spend huge amounts in telephone calls and making aggreements what they would then change every time it was agreed I would pay £20, they would claim it should be £25 etc etc. the amount on each card was around £1500, this was in 2006.

Barclaycard then bought out Goldfish, without prior notice to me I was in a battle with demands from Barclays (which I had been in receipt of anyway I was non thewiser what was going on, When the situation finally calmed down they apologised for charging me interest and causing me stress and not informing me of the handover and we created 2 aggreements (one for each debt), they gave me £90 towards the previous charges, and that should have been that , before 3 months were out they were back on the charges and back up to 4 phone calls a day- when I told them i would report them for harrasment they said they were entitled to call and do what they wanted as many times as they liked- I went through periods of them calling and hanging up, calling back hanging up etc etc it was a nightmare, threats every day in the post, In the end I moved, I am still recieving letters, I pay 1 of the debts still on a standing order but the interest is still £19 so i basically pay £1 a month.

I got married last year and when we moved my husband shredded the wrong box of papers ( certificates, letters, the old statements, and more- he was watching football at the time and it nearly ended in divorce,) but its done so i have no records of payments made or anything else-

    My QUESTIONS ARE;
1- are they obliged to issue copies?

2- should I be entitled to refund of any ppi on the cards origionally as i was told they were obligatory when taking out the cards?

3-are they allowed to charge all this interest?

4- WHAT SHOULD I DO- besides what im doing (ignoring everything)

    thank you
