I have sent them 3 court letters before i got a reply from Halifax.

They said get stuffed! - i had there final response in there first letter and they would not keep replying to me on a subject they considered closed!

Not sure what to do now - let me know how u get on.

blimey, they seem quite strict, ill let you know how I get on, take them to court then I say, looking at the template letters and what martin says to do

Halifax do seem to be holding out at the moment. I had to go to court for them.

I have run out of letters to send to Halifax as well, although I did get a very speedy reply to my Court Action letter, with a short sharp get lost and said they would not continue to communicate with me anymore !! So today I have filled in the form for the FOS and am as I type photocopying all the correspondance backwards and forwards and we will see how I get on from there ! I dont fancy Court Action route either.
These are the first of a long list of people I intend to try and reclaim from ( must admit I was hoping my first attempt would be easier !) Capital One so far are the only ones who have written to me asking for the £10. I am still waiting for the list of charges from everyone else, I dread to think what they will amount to.

Couple of questions for anyone reading though please - Has anybody tried claiming for accounts that are still open and accruing interest and charges still, or have you only claimed for closed or frozen accounts ?

Has anyone claimed going back more than 10 years ?

I am sure these answers are on here somewhere !

I have tried to claim just £12 charges back from Halifax over the last 4 years, but have got no where with them.

I dont think its worth going to the FOS, thats what Halifax and the other want you to do, they know the FOS will side with them for all charges of £12, the only thing i think is worth trying is the court route.

Im just really unsure of what will happen if i lose, will i have to pay all the costs, thats whats worring me.

I guess thats why the companies all bank on, that people will not go down the court route and they wont have to pay up.


On the plus side - i have claimed back just £12 charges from Tesco and Mint, very easy to deal with.

I think you are probably right about Halifax and the FOS, but I have posted the letter today anyway, you never know ! I will keep you informed of their response. Anyway onwards and upwards I sent Capital One their £10 today , so will wait for my list of charges to appear.

I am unsure about the court route, maybe someone will read this and advise you how easy it was and if they won or not.

Glad you got your charges back from Mint and Tesco, unfortunately my cards all seem to be with the culprits who seem notoriously difficult to deal with. Not even started on the PPIs yet !!!

This is my first post on here and just wondering if anyone can clear something up for me!
I admit that I have used a claim company ( i know, i know) but I've received a letter from Natwest yesterday offering me a refund on my credit card charges - hooray! From what I can see, this refund only applies to overlimit fees and doesn't include late fees. Can i try to claim these as well, as I've had a quick look around the site & can't seem to find any specifics about which charges I can claim back.
Hopefully this is the first of many successes - will keep you posted!
