  • Hi novicelandlady
I'm no expert but I would have thought certified would just mean getting someone to certify a copy as you would a passport photo? that's what I've done with any address/name changes. I got married and moved house within 2 weeks so had to change everything, I just got loads of copies of my marriage certificate and got the MD of my company to certify they were true copies....
    hope that helps

You can claim back any late payments and/or over limit fees but be aware any monies reclaimed will go towards any debt held by the bank, this of course will reduce the debt you owe them.

Please can you give me advise, I reclaimed bank charges from barclaycard got refunded to my bank account. Another case with same bank, according thier letter said the agency responsible for your account has been notified and your account balance will be amended. I gone through all my accounts detail unfortunately can't find the account no which they mentioned, just wondering have you got sample letter template which i can use to persuad them refund it to me instead or better advise needed please...thanks
  • Hi,

  • hi looking for some advice
a while ago i made a claim with challengeyour.com to reclaim creditcard charges and ppi insurance
i knew i had a good case! never heard much from challengeyour.com
then got an unexpected letter from the bank offering a settlement of £2700 they said unless i called them the money would b paid into my account in 5 days,so i was happy with this!
tonight i receive a phonecall from challangeyour.com saying i'm due the £800 approx!
i understand they would b due a cut of any money claimed back but the offer came direct from the back not from them!! they only found out about the £2700 after the bank contacted them to say a settlement had been reached directly with myself! they haven't been through court etc!
whats everyones opinon? should i challenge the £800 saying they not done enough or just pay it! they originally said it would b only 20% £800 is not 20% of £2700
  • Hi all,

I am in the process of trying to reclaim credit card charges from various companies, but have started firstly with Halifax. I wrote to them on the 24th Aug requesting refunds totalling £449.33 dating from 13th Aug 2004 until 14th Jan 2010 incl interest ( 3 of these charges were £25 and the rest were £12). I have received a response today in short, saying that I was requesting a refund of charges in excess of 6 years, which they will not consider, and I assume the usual response of "our fees of £12 are fair and justified". There was no mention of the couple of £25 charges. They have detailed dates when my account was not paid on time, ( when we were in financial hardship, something they had been made aware of in writing) and also dates when the account was int he hands of the collection dept . The letter states they have never charged more than £12, although they have sent me previous confirmation that they have charged £25 on a couple of occasions. I could go on forever, but their basic answer was to go away. My question if anybody is able to helps is as follows, should I pursue this further with threat of Court Action or Ombudsmen, have I actually got a case ( I am finding it difficult to convince myself I have when the Ombudsmen have stated that £12 is fair) If I do pursue it should I burble on about the dates when I was in financial hardship etc etc and argue the point about the fees and time scales or just stick to Martins basic template and hope that does the trick ? Im sorry for all the questions and if this all sounds confusing, I am worried about claiming for something when I relly have no case !! Apologies also if I have posted this in the wrongplace, pretty new to all of this !!

Any guidance whatsoever will be greatly aprecited. Thankyou
  • Got my first letter to send off to Vanquis for data request. Fingers crossed for a good reply!! :)
  • I have received details of my charges from Mint, MBNA, Tesco and Post Office without sending the £10 cheque.

The only company that wrote back and asked for the cheque was Capital One, thought this might be useful info and save some money!
Car loan £8105.35 57/60 payments left of £141.80 per month
Loan £6687.23 55/58 payments left of £165 per month
    Nationwide £1183 (0% interest until 02/2026)

    Total debt £15975.48
  • Hi I am trying to reclaim on my credit cards, first of all i wrote to mint,, they sent me my original signed contract and i had ticked that i wanted PPI ,, it was so long ago but I dont think that I would have taken it out but it was there in black and white.
I got a phone call from a claiming company and they said that I can still persue this,,, there was 5000 at one point and my ppi was through the roof.. can I still persue this??

also I read ages ago that EGG was fined for PPI can I just write to them and cos they are fined claim my money back..

Hi Just wondering what you have decided to do about this?

I to have writtn to Halifax asking for charges back - all £12 charges, they have totally refused and i have now run out of letters to send!

i am left like you with only the FOS or court action, I know the FOS will not do anything about the £12 charges, so court really is all i can do.

Im not really sure if i really want to go to court, im not at all sure what will happen - i have reclaimed money from Tesco and Mint all £12 charges without any problems.
  • I too (HALIFAX) have asked for my money back, had a phone call from halifax, saying £12 are lawfull and there wont be any money to be reclaimed, Im going to send the court letter now - thoughts anyone? thanks in advance
