  • Hi gdawn,
I don't see why you couldn't claim more of them back!! Out of interest though how long did it take for you to get anything out of Capital One I have been unsuccessful with them so far and have sent it to FOS now.

    Thanks

hello, ive recently been trying to recliam credit card charges,i have used the interest calculator, yet feel, the amount given is less than th amount ive piad in,so my question is,at what rate does the calculator operate?

some cards have higher rates than others so has this calculator just taken an average? how does it work?

    i hope someone can help

i would like to add, that some 6 years ago,i had a loan, they told me that loan payment protection was necessary to obtain the loan,so i obligded and paid up my monies for it,3 1/2 years later i found myself off work due to illness,i tried to claim off of the payment protection plan, they refused beause i had had a headache which they say possibly couldve been sign to a pre existing condition which they deemed enough to refuse payment,i asked,"who has never had a head ache?" anyways long story short, i claimed that they had missold the protection and demanded my money back for the whole policey,1 month later i recieved "as a good will gesture;)" £1600 cheque in final settlement :) i was only off work for 2 months if they'd have paid out it would've cost them £250 lol :D i love it when a plan comes together hehehe

pps,im a dufuss,i just read on the very same letter that the calculator works on the stautory rate which would be awardd by the courts..so my new question is, what is that rate ?

thanks for that,i also had to go through FOS,carn't remember how long it took but had all charges plus interest back no problem, claimed for oh as well.
  • I had a phone call from a woman from a company called Blue Sky claims
she said i could be entitled to claim charges on credit card back so
i listened to what she had to say she said if i had a late payment
charge the interest the interest could amount to thousands. A couple
of calls and emails later i agreed to pay £49.95(refundable). When
they eventually sent me the welcome pack as they called it i found
out i had to pay a £15(nonrefundable) fee to have my credit card
statements sent to them from my credit card company. Anyway now
they sent me a letter saying that i am due back approximately £183.49
but i have to pay £20(nonrefundable) to claim it and they will take
25% of the claim. That means i'll actually get £137.44, now bearing
in mind i already paid £65+ £20 not yet paid =£85 that means i'll
    actually make £52 approx if i don't pay the £20 and take a refund(49.95),
wouldn't i work out better off? Can anyone give me some advice
  • hi keith, I would get ur £49.95 back of Blue sky they are just trying to rip you off as much as the banks. It will only have cost them £10.00 for the credit card charges. Do it yourself it is really easy and takes no time at all to print off a couple of letters.

Good luck and if you need any help just ask, practically everyone on the forum has had some experience with re-claiming.

    Hi again,

Don't loose heart, as I have found that Barclaycard have been the easiest of all the companies to deal with so far. They offered me all of my charges plus interest (what I had asked for) in their first offer so I grabbed it. They paid off the balance on my card and then I had them transfer the remaining balance of the refund (about £350) into my current account. My credit card has NOT been closed.

Tell them on the phone that you will contact the Imformation Ombudsman if they do not comply with your request within the next 7 days. Be firm with them.

Good luck and keep us posted.

    Hi again,

i rang Barclaycard and asked them why they hadn't sent the balance of my statements for the past 6 years and why they hadn't replied to my letter asking for them again. They said they would arrange a call-back within 48 hours. Guess what? No call-back came. WHat do I do now? They are so unhelpful. Is it any wonder they announced big bonuses to their employees this morning! Help!
  • I too had my letter to Barclaycard ignored. So I rang the Financial Ombudsman Service because I had written to Barclaycard more than eight weeks ago.

The FOS took the details over the phone and said that they would contact Barclaycard to let them know that I have raised a complaint.

Just waiting for Barclaycard to respond.

    Tired.
  • Hi all,
Can anyone tell me if i can reclaim credit card charges from the past 6 years even though i was made bankrupt in 2006. Also could i reclaim for charges added after i was unable to make my repayments just prior to going bankrupt?
thanks in advance for any info received

Hi Stevie, I would now contact the information commissioner as this is a clear breach of rules http://www.ico.gov.uk/ this is a link to them. A phone call from them will make Barclaycard compliant. Good luck and keep us posted.
