  • Hi all

just a quick one, I am having a long runnign battle with Cap one over credit card charges which has now been passed on to the FOS. However after doing a bit of routing about on the net last night I discovered the email address for the Cap One CEO Liam Quegan. I emailed him this afternoon and within half an hour I received a reply from him, saying that he would be personnally looking at my complaint tommorow. In 3 months I receive 1 reply from 5 letters and then get a response within half an hour I nearly fell off my chair when I checked my inbox. I don't know whether I can post his email address on here but PM me if you want it.

Good luck with all your reclaims people

    Hi,

    Newbie here.
On the 24th November, I sent a template letter to Barclay Card requesting details of my charges for the past 6 years. I got them on Wednesday 6th January 2010, but only from June 2006. Can anyone help me sort this out? Also, I don't use a credit card anymore and don't want to have any. If Barclay Card decide they want to close my account, what happens if I haven't paid the outstanding amount? I already pay it monthly at the moment.

    Any help would be appreciated.

    Guys, please help me.
I had asked and paid for statements from Barclaycard going back 6 years. They only sent them from June 2006. I then sent another letter asking for the remainder and gave them a further 15 working days to comply or I woul contact the Information Commissioner. It is now 20 working days since and I have had no reply from them. Can anyone help me, please???
  • Hi, Stevie

If your account is still active just phone them up and ask them why they only sent them from June 2006 and explain to them that you want what you paid for which is 6 years worth of statements and that they are legally obliged to provide them to you.

As for still having an outstanding balance they will pay off anything on that first and then you will have to contact them to get the rest transferred out to another bank account.

Do have hope though I have just reclaimed nearly £700 from barclays for a credit card I still use.

    Hope this helps

    Thanks mrsevans,
I rang them this morning, and guess what? They asked me to send another letter in! I told them I won't be sending any more letters. After almost losing the rag, I asked for a call-back. Hopefully get it sorted soon. As for transferring to another card, I don't have one and I doubt whether I will get another one!
  • Hi again,

Don't loose heart, as I have found that Barclaycard have been the easiest of all the companies to deal with so far. They offered me all of my charges plus interest (what I had asked for) in their first offer so I grabbed it. They paid off the balance on my card and then I had them transfer the remaining balance of the refund (about £350) into my current account. My credit card has NOT been closed.

Tell them on the phone that you will contact the Imformation Ombudsman if they do not comply with your request within the next 7 days. Be firm with them.

Good luck and keep us posted.
  • Maybe not posted in the right place, but I've just found out that employees who wear a uniform as part of their job can claim back £60.00 per year from HMRC for Laundry expenses. See HMRC EIM32485. You can claim back to Tax Year 2004/05.:T
  • Can you still reclaim charges if the credit card company has sold the balance to a debt collecting company? As mine have.:(

    Thanks,
What will happen if I get a settlement and they close my account? Will I be expected to pay the full amount outstanding? I don't have any other cards.

Dont get hung up on this issue, I have numerous credit cards and have been dealing with them all, as I am unsure of your situation this is what I would do: If you cant pay them with interest send a budget form, make an offer with them holding interest. If you can switch accounts to one offering a 0% balance transfer if not dont worry, as you have sent thema budget plan if they took it to court the judge would throw it out because you have made an offer that you can reasonably afford.

I pay £1 per month and am trying to get my charges back - I work on the theory that if they had not charged me so much I might have been more able to pay in the first place!.

If they close the account they will send it to debt collection this is nothing to worry about, re send the budget form - whatever happens stick to claiming back what is yours.

good advice! i would say, i too, have been dealing with my credit cards, and in the end, if you got no socks, you can't pull them up, meaning money, lol, so pay only what you can, but never don't pay nothing, put everything in writing too. don't speak over the phone.
