    Hi

Looking for some advice. Took out a credit card with BOS in late 2002 which I eventually defaulted on due to financial problems. The original debt was for £1200 but then all the late payment charges at £35 eah time and the over the limit fees took it to more than double. Anyway it was passed to a debt collection agency and I came to an agreement with them and eventully the full amount was paid off sometime in 2008. As I am in scotland the standard time for reclaiming is 5 years. Do you think I have any chance if I try to reclaim now??

    Thanks for any advice x
  • Capital One & MBNA

Does anybody have phone numbers for the Executive Response Dept @ Capital One & the Customer Advocate office at MBNA hav e tried to get through to both these departments and after about half an hour of being passed to different people I then get told that there are no phone numbers for either of these offices (how do other depts get through to them?). If numbers aren't available if anyone has email addresses it would be a great help.
  • Hi I'm new to the forum, and I've recently been refunded bank charges and PPI fees. Yay!! I want to try and get my credit card charges back now and wondered if it's more difficult?
All my credit cards except one have gone hundreds over the limit mainly because of charges, all defaulted, and all but one are with debt collection agancies. I am in a debt management plan and they are all getting monthly payments from me now. Part of the reason my debt got so out of hand was due to these charges. My cards are Egg, Mint, Halifax, and Virgin, do you think I'll have any luck??
    Grateful for any advice :D

I've recently received a letter from the Halifax telling me that if I don't reply within three months from the date of the letter, my bank charges that I reclaimed (but don't look as though I'm going to get them back now) my claim is invalid. After the recent decision where the banks don't have to pay back any unlawful bank charges to customers, I don't want to ignore the letter, if, at a later date, I may have had a chance of getting my bank charges back due to Martin Lewis's campaigning. Please help! What should I do??
  • Got some good news on Monday. Via the FOS, one of the banks has given me an additional £15-00 for credit card charges. This means that I have now got back approximately £50-00 from this bank for my credit card charges. Not bad as I have subsequently found out that the bank had only charged me £2-00 for interest charges and did not charge me for any late payment fees (I had a 0% balance transfer card).

It makes a change to actually get one over the banks.

    Afternoon all!

After sending my 2nd letter to Cap One trying to reclaim £292 in charges plus interest of £103.30 so £395.30 in total. I have received a reply from them stating they will settle for £43.51. How do I now say thanks for the £43.51 But I still want the rest of the money does anyone know where I can get a template letter from to send.
    Thank you

Suggest using MSE's template letter as per the below URL :

It worked for me in getting all of my money back.

Hi all, just a Morale boost for everyone out there trying to reclaim credit card charges. I received a letter this morning from Barclaycard saying that they would refund me £480.00 charges and the £143.92 interest and it has only been 2 months. WHAT A RESULT. I am soooo grateful to the site and all the very helpful people on the Forum. To all those people wondering whether to bother or not, GO for it, you've got nothing to loose except the price of a stamp.

    Hi all,

You don't even need the price of a stamp. Just send you letter via em to the CEOs as detailed at :

    http://www.connectotel.com/marcus/ceoemail.html

I always do this and it is has worked for me. If you want to send a postage letter as well, just request the CEO to advise you of a freepost address.

It doesn't include the majority of credit card providers. I would agree with you that it is accurate but there is a need for more providers on their list.
I have not worked for NatWest Bank since February 2009
