  • Hearing, scheduled for this Friday for my claim regarding Credit Card charges:have not been able to agree a settlement so far.Claim is for under £1500 and has been ongoing for 2 years.Company legal team have now forwarded by e-mail a Witness statement + Statement of their costs for my reference I presume. Is this standard procedure.Any advice regarding the above would be appreciated
  • Hi All,

Has anyone heard of the following two companies: Cento Client Review, and Kerobo.

Cento are phoning me on a daily basis to claim that they can assist in wiping off my credit card balance due to a number of loopholes. They are asking for £149.00 up front, and state that IF they cannot claim anything, then they simply refund the £149 back!

Kerobo have the same claims, BUT are requesting £495 up front, which is refundable if they cannot make a claim.

Any thoughts or advice would be welcome here..

    Regards
    Amrit

    Hi,

I requested info from Lloyds TSB on 15/7/09, right on 40 days I received partial statements 2003-2004, I'd asked for previous 6 years. Phoned them and was told 7 working days, nothing arrived, phoned again and told 10 working days, nothing arrived. Phoned again and was told request had been rejected and would request again, phoned 1 week later and told they have 40 days to respond from most recent request not from original request of 15/7/09, is this true? Does sending partial info count as a response?
Please could someone help? My £10 cheque was cashed in August 2009.
    Thankyou

Can anybody help me with this query? Don't know if they can take a further 40 days when they only partially sent info?
  • Hi,

I wrote a letter to the Halifax in order to claim credit charges back from Halifax for the last six years. 10 weeks later, I got a response back saying that there had been no credit card charges applied to me. I immediately raised a formal complaint via the FOS as Halifax had taken over ten weeks to respond to my complaint with a final letter (FOS and FSA stipulate an 8 week timeline for providing a final response). I also advised Halifax that I would be claiming £200 due to the inconvenience and stress caused to me in having to chase them for a response. Yesterday I found a letter friom Halifax dated 2005, which advised me that I had been charged credit card fees and that Halifax would not be returning the money to me. I have escalated this to the FOS and also requested the Halifax CEO to provide me with a personal response as I have no confidence in Halifax customer services. I have a question, which hopefully someone can answer. Have Halifax contravened the the DPA by not providing me with the correct info with reagrds my credit card fees ? If so, should I escalate this to the DPA commissionaire and advise Halifax accordingly. Please advise if anyone has an answer.

No it isn't. The fact is that it was requested originally as part of the SAR which they failed to complete. Tell them it's 7 days or a complaint to the Information Commissioner's Office goes in and that you want every single statement since the card was opened.

They have breached DPA by not providing details after 40 straight days provided they have cashed the cheque or have available information to provide information. I would reclaim all the charges since the card was opened. The fact you have caught them in a lie is very interesting and I would report them to the ICO(Information Commissioner's Office).

Sent LBA for credit card charges quoting the usual OFT quotes etc and had a response today refusing to repay charges.
The response from mbna isnt the usual one i have had from other credit card providers and i am a bit stuck for content for my final letter before taking it to court.

Mbna have said they dont agree with the ofts guidelines and that charges reflect their costs QUOTE , "late payments by customers cause us to incurr substancial costs in dealing with their default"

AS FOR GOING OVERLIMIT THEY SAY "we therefore lend more than we agreed to and take on risks which were never accepted in the first place"

as for the ofts guidelines " mbna disagrees with ofts interpritation of the law and continues to maintain that its default charges have always been fair legal and transparrent"

If anyone could give me some ideas of content for last letter to them i would be gratefull.
