Credit Card Reclaiming Discussion

Hi
Im new to this forum and reclaiming. Having used the letters from here I have started against Capital one. Claimed for £856....offer of £122. Next letter in the post.
My question is though, what do the CC do if you try and reclaim and the account is still open? Can they shut it down and demand full balance be repaid? As I owe MBNA a fair bit and want to reclaim charges against them.
Plus I saw the post on here about Vanquis, their letter and sending back the cheque. Did exacltly the same thing to us!
Many thanks0 -
Forgot to ask
I have a Bank of Scotland preference account. This acts like a credit card in that it has a Credit limit and is paid off each month. Is this a Bank account for reclaiming purposes or a credi card?0 -

It is unlikely they will close the account cos they make no money from you if the account is shut. Any refunds usually go to pay off any monies owed on the card which can substantially reduce any amount you owe them.0 -

Hi, has anyone had any success claiming back their credit card charges as I have been in touch with them on two separate occasions about claiming back my credit card charges and both times they have said 'no can do'. Has anyone any experience of dealing with Egg? I don't know whether to keep trying or not!0

I can't recall exactly but basically they said they didn't agree that the charges were illegal. I had also asked them to refund my PPI that I found appeared on my account 2 years after I started my Egg card with them. Again, they refused. They did send me a CD of my conversation with one of their agents but my call was to report I had lost my card and could they send me a new one. The agent then says as a kind of good will gesture that she would add PPI on my account for free for next 6 months. Very clever as that means you then have to remember to opt out in 6 months time, which of course I didn't as I had forgotten about this. Talk about mis sold - I never even asked for it and they camaflagued it by giving it to me for free!!! I am thinking of re-visiting this and trying again as I feel they shouldn't be allowed to get away with this. They have already been fined for illegal practices of mis-selling PPI!0 -
