Credit Card Reclaiming Discussion

  • They have breached DPA by not providing details after 40 straight days provided they have cashed the cheque or have available information to provide information. I would reclaim all the charges since the card was opened. The fact you have caught them in a lie is very interesting and I would report them to the ICO(Information Commissioner's Office).
Thanks for the info. I have now received a cheque of £35-00 from the Halifax. However, I have not accepted this cheque as a full payment as it does not cover the costs incurred to my for the inconvenience and distress caused to me as a result of Halifax's actions. Their response also does not provide me with a reason (i.e. either Halifax customer services investigation was limited with regards it's scope, they lied or the source of their customer data was incorrect). I have challenged them accordingly and am awaiting for their reponse. At this stage, I will not escalate to Information Commissioner. However, whatever response I am given, I will be escalating to him/her.

    Hey Barloo,

Well done on getting back all credit card charges! I am about to do the same, could you pls be so kind to let me know which address you sent your second letter to Barclaycard?

    Many thanks!

    Katie

Katie, if you are talking about the Credit Card claim then try :-

    Barclaycard
    Data Protection Team
    Dept LRC
    Barclaycard
    Northampton
    NN4 7SG

If however you talking the Payment protector (PPI) then try :-

    Barclaycard
    Customer Relations Department
    1234 Pavilion Drive
    Northampton
    NN4 7SG

    Hope this helps. Good luck.

  • Hi,as complete utter beginner to any kind of forum, and after reading some of the questions on this page,i feel i must tell you of prevoius claims I have had. After a 7yr horrendous relationship with a terrible card abuser I was left, literally with 6 cards (all in my name)amassing to a total of 24 thousand pounds-one card had gone to a debt recovery agent.I had to remortgage to clear the debts, however after reading martins site and following the instructions i downloaded the letters, calculated charges going back 6yrs,even the closed accounts and requested monies back-they all replied with less than requested offer-so i stuck it out and with 3 cards involved FOS.The upshot being i received just short of 3thousand pounds back. The only card that didnt pay out was the one that had gone to debt rec agent as they accepted partial settlement to close account. To add I also recently followed the PPI claim and received back full amount plus interest with only one letter requesting!another 3thousand! My advice is follow the instructions ,use FOS where required(they are extremely helpful)and you`ll reap the benefits. This site really does what it says!a huge thankyou to Martin and the site.

  • I'm sorry for adding my query to this thread, but I didn't know where else to put it so please be gentle with me!

I did have a bad time a few years back and caught a few charges on the Credit Cards I had. I'm on a far more even keel now thankfully, and no longer even bother with the cards...!

My query is I know I was on the end of some charges, but I no longer have the statements, or even details of the card numbers etc. I know which lenders I had the cards with though. Will this lack of card numbers mean I can't claim? Surely they can search for me by name? I don't know where I stand. I'm happy (ok not happy, but accept I'll have) to pay £10 a pop to the lenders for my statements, but do I HAVE to have the card numbers?

Thanks in advance for any help/advice. I'm sorry if this has been covered before, I did have a look around and couldn't see anything.

    .
No, but include as much detail as you can in the DPA SAR letter, ie full name, DOB, approx dates of opening and closing a/c's, if you have since moved your address at the time and copy of council tax or utility bills from your current address

So, far more hoops? My mistake for binning all the statements before I realised I had some recourse with some of the charges!

I'm not 100% sure of all of the above details, but I can provide things like council tax and utility bills etc as I've lived here for coming on six years.

I hope my records can be found, if I can pay £10 to see them, surely that means I sit on a system somewhere?!?
