  • Many thanks, you have given me the confidence now to go ahead!
One more thing please if I may, I am pretty sure I have most, if not all the statements going back as much as 8 or 9 years. My husband is self employed so I always made sure I had at least the last 7 years of everything.
Should I dig out the statements, work out how much the charges add up to and then contact A & L or should I write to them and ask them to work it out? (reading this back this sounds like a naff question, I just want to be sure I am doing this the right way and the quickest way....if there is one of course! LOL)

    Many thanks again

I think you know the answer to this one about who adds up the charges, right? ;)
I think you should cos they might miss something that would go in their favour ;)

He's been self employed for about 20 years, the thing is that we arent sure when he frst took out the card about 10 years ago if he took out PPI or not, we just cant remember. On his monthly credit card statement it doesnt say anything about that so it looks like he didnt take it out. I will investigate, thanks for the heads up.

hi, no you should not because CAP1 done the same to me. I passed to financial ombudsman trust me they are the best when it comes to credit card claims. What I asked for they gave to me once the F.O came involved!!

Do you mean I should take the claim to the FO once I work out how much it is before going to A & L?
Or go to A & L first with it and see what they say?

As for the PPI part of it, I doubt he had it so it looks like we are going for the overlimit and late payment charges only.

    Many thanks

  • You have to start with the financial institution because if you don't the FOS will simply send it to them before they look into the complaint.

    Hello

Looking for some advice please. I have been trying to reclaim charges for £500 for my brother from clydesdale bank.

1st letter I sent asking for full money plus interest. Offer I received £102
2nd letter I sent saying no I wanted full amount and would take to ombudsman and I received letter back saying no we will only offer you £102.
3rd letter I sent basically re iterating that I wanted full amount but without prejudice I would accept £400. Got a letter back saying no again that £102 was there final offer.

Do you think I should take to ombudsman and if so what actually happens with this do they send clydesdale a letter or does my brother have to go to court, and also what are the chances of success.

I really am stuck as to where to go now and would appreciate any advice or other peoples experiences.

    many thanks

    Credit card charges, right?
You can go to the Ombudsman if they have said that that is all you are getting.

    Hello

    Thanks for your reply.
Yes credit card charges. I know you can write to them if you are not happy but I wanted to know the procedure and the likelihood of the outcome.
