  • my account was already closed, but what i think happens is if you claim and you will win then if you have an account it gets paid into there, any credit left after that will be paid in a cheque to you.

It would be really helpful if people could mention whether the accounts remained opened, closed etc

    Thanks

My account was and still is active and as just suggested, the refund, albeit small in comparision to some claims, was paid back into the same account.

I asked for confirmation by writing and I got it as well.

  • Hi,
Need some advice if i could. Last week decided to try and reclaim charges from Barclaycard. The total amount of charges was £640 + £129 interest. Today I called the automated service to find out my balance and see that they have credited £260 to my account. By my callculations this is about the amount I asked for minus the £12 for each charge I received. My questions are this:
    1. Do you think it is worth pursuing them for the full amount I requested and if so what's the next step to be taken?
    2. If you do pursue the rest of the money can they take back what they have already given you?
    Many Thanks

What to do is accept as part-payment so they cannot take it back and pursue the rest if they do not offer to you, through The Financial Ombudsman at no cost to yourself. I did this with Capital one and got the full amount back this way. I was originally given a partial offer of £120 when re-claiming 4x the amount. I was succesful doing it this way. It takes time but is worth it in the end. Good luck!

I would send it to complaints as card services dont seem to deal with these queries and pass them on. Thats if it's your claim. If its your statements phone them for an address for that department and send that direct too.

    hello

i am claiming credit card charges from halifax. i sent my first letter back in october, got the records, worked out what was owed and then after i'd made the request (for about £700 they made me a (small) offer of about £150. i rejected this and my last letter before xmas threatened court action if they didn't settle up within 14 days (copied from template on this site).

about 17 days after my letter i got a response saying they were looking into it and it would take up to a month, and then today i got another one saying as they are unable to resolve the issue it's being passed to a customer relaations manager who will contact me 'in due course'.

my question is; should i now just contact the FOS directly with all the paperwork and correspondance and ask them to look into my claim, or do i have to wait for halifax to get back to me?

i would rather pass it over to the FOS and ask them to take it on but don't want to miss a step that could jeopardise my claim.

    any thoughts greatly appreciated
  • Hi,
Barclaycard have offered me a part payment but I still want to pursue them for the outstanding amount. Does anyone know if there is a letter template for accepting the part payment (so they cant take it back) but informing them that you will be pursuing the outstanding amount?
    Thanks

Halifax move at a snails pace. Seems like a war of attrition.
Agreed part payment of £484 on 17/11/07 for credit card charges. Still £600 short excluding interest.
    Received letter of acknowledgement 17/12/07.
    Nothing since.

Can you advise if any updates are received.......
