I'm new to this and am trying to reclaim around £1,100 from Halifax.

I sent them the letter from the site along with a list of charges I had accrued and asked for complete repayment plus interest. I received a letter from them on 20th July acknowledging my complaint and that they would resolve this in a max of 8 weeks, but would write to me within 4 weeks with an update.

Not suprisingly, it has now been 4 weeks since I got this letter and I have been sent a 4 week holding letter saying the matter will be resolved in the next 4 weeks.

I've got a feeling they are going to throw the complaint back at me and was wondering whether to sit tight and wait, or to be a bit more agressive with them.

    Any thoughts?

    Cheers

Classic complaint handling ie 56 days maximum timescale before you can take it to the FOS.

    Thanks for this natwest

Just got a reply from Halifax. They are offering me £325 as a goodwill offer. I'm not particuarly please with this and am going to write back requesting the full amount.

The only thing is, I am wondering whether to sign their form accepting the £325, as this may jepordaise my chances of getting the full amount back. The letter includes the wording 'I confirm that I accept the offer of £325 from Halifax in full and final settlement of my complaint regarding Credit Card charges on my Credit Card account'.

Will signing this mean I cant claim for the outstanding amount?

Thanks for all your help so far!
Am finding the same with Halifax...is it worth hanging on for the final date they've given or phone them up to try and move it on?

Also, Nationwide only returned print out of dates from 2004 with charges attached rather than ALL statements for me to sift through. Shuld I trust their information or ask for full statements?

hi there just wondering if anybody can help

i was with natwest cc for almost 3 years. 2 years ago i move houses and my mistake i did not update my details with them, i did not receive my statements for 2 years.
now i just called in and ask about the balance it was well over limit for 2 years. it is like interest on top of interest.
after reading so many success stories i am quite confident now. i got my cc number but no account number on my statements. can anybody tell me where can i find them?
if i give my direct debit cuurent account number will they mistake that as bank charges reclaiming?

    thanks

I put in a claim with Halifax for my charges etc which amounted to around £1200 with interest.

I have today received an offer of £234.00 from them with a letter saying the charges are fair and that the offer is the difference with no interest added to the settlement that is a goodwill jesture.

If I send this to the ombudsman or to court what is the chance of me being awarded the full amount claimed of £1200 ?

Has anyone any information on this. I have telephoned them today and they have said they will review the matter and get back to me.

Any tips or pointers for me what to do next. Im not happy with the offer.

    Thanks in advance

    the offer is the difference
This makes me think this is a credit card claim rather than bank a/c charges?

Can't help if you don't answer the question. Is this a bank or credit card claim?
