Hi,
I sent off my letter requesting data to my old CC provider, and including a £10 cheque, in the middle of July. Unfortunately I cannot find a Rec Del slip for the request (the wife and I were sending a few off) so I either have lost it or did not use one (either way I am, therefore, a pillock).
Now, the 40 day period is not up for a further couple of weeks but, as of today, they still have not cashed the cheque.
My question is, therefore, do I work on the basis that it was lost in the post and make the request again (thus starting the 40 days again from now) or do I have to wait until my original 40 days is up (giving them the full time to respond and working on the basis that they have received my original request but have chosen not to respond until the full 40 day period is up).
Thanks in advance0 -
Hefferlump, I think the first thing to do is call them up and ask if they got it. If they say no then all you can really do is send the request again and cancel the original cheque.0

Hi,
I am quite new to this reclaiming lark. I claimed £246 back last month from Beneficial (HFC), including interest, and they agreed to pay by return of post. Apparently this was because I was a 'valued customer' (which they didn't say 6 months ago when they tried to take out a CCJ!!!!!).
However, I submitted a claim for £433 to Egg and they have refused twice offering a mere £52 sending me reams of paper about what wonderful people they are when it comes to charges ..... anyone had success with Egg?
Also I sent a data request off to Goldfish seven weeks ago - and a reminder - about two accounts I used to have with them (one formerly Morgan Stanley) and the silence has been defeaning? Any experiences/suggestions with Goldfish would be welcome!
Seems to be a HSBC crap letters saying you are a valued customer, a joke they are, I had that nonsence about credit card, If we were a valued customer we would not be writing to them any complaints, and all request would dealt with ammiably:A:A:A:A:A- HFC is HSBC owned.0 -
Hello!
Unsure reclaimer here!
I wrote to C1 on 5/6/09, they wrote back with the usual, we're right, you're wrong, how about you accept our £40 'goodwill offer' :rotfl: and go away?
Wrote back saying I wasn't going to accept the goodwill offer and they got back in touch yesterday to say things along the lines of...
"confident our default sums are both fair and legal and I'm disappointed to hear you're considering further action. The OFT hasn't told us we're obliged to refund any default sums, and we've offered refunds as a gesture of goodwill. I won't be refunding all of the sums you've asked."
They go on...
"My £40 offer is still open to you. I won't be increasing this, as it is my final offer. Financial regulations require me to advise you that this is my final response in relation to this matter. However, you now have the option to contact the FOS within six months from the date of this letter. Again, I look forward to receiving your signed settlement form so we can put this behind us and save the FOS' valuable time."
Sorry for most of the letter content in my post but I'm getting a bit worried I a) won't get my charges back and b) will have to be dragged through court to be told this news.
Has anyone else received similar letters from the lovely folks at C1 and continued, successfully, with their claim?
Thanks in advance for any help.
Got to be ELLIE THE OFFICE MANAGER, SAME TEMPLATE LETTERS.:A:A:A:A:A0
