I took out a card with Morgan Stanley approx 2005. They then sold/transferred my account to 'Goldfish' around 2007 who in turn sold/transferred my account to Barclaycard about a year ago. Currently there is a debt of about £7000 which is being paid off normally. There's about £500 in charges&interest which could be claimed.
Can I still claim the charges (all of which stem from the original period with Morgan Stanley) and from whom do I claim? Do I apply to MS for a cheque in the post, or do I ask Barclaycard to offset the repaid figure against the remaining debt?0 -

Claim off who has your account now(ie barclaycard), and barclaycard will most likely offset it off any debt you have with them.LegalBeagles0 -
Thank you so much di3004 for taking the time to help and point me in the right direction - I really felt like I had hit a brick wall.
I'll get in touch with FOS and see what they have to say before I send the SAR off to HSBC, but I have it ready to go anyway. Then once I have received the details (depending on what the FOS say initially), I think the next step will be to get back in touch with HSBC asking them to reconsider.
Watch this space!!!!
Thanks too for the links.

You can claim £28 ones and if you have had the advantage blue for at least 6 months then get rid of it as it is not benefitting you.0 -
I have just received a letter from Egg after my first reclaim letter saying that their £16 charges have been ok'd by the OFT after it reduced them from £20 in April 2006. All my charges are since then and thus £16. Should i still progress as they have said they consider the matter closed. How should i progress? Threaten Small Claims? The ammount they have been asked for is £378.87 which includes interest.0

thanks all especially "natweststaffmember" for help earlier, I've called Halifax today asking if they've recieved my letter rejecting my offer letter of £65, and the answer is yes we have - this was 14days now - and I am hanging out for the full £544 that I'm owed - It would appear there very busy with things at the moment and cant hurry things along anymore - Is there nothing I can do? without being pushy, All contact to and from has been very polite and courtious from people at halifax0
