Credit Card Reclaiming Discussion

Hi,
I am a student and I paid my course by my credit card. Unfortunately, my college was closed down due to financial difficulties and the students were transfered to another college. They said they transfer all the details and the money we paid to them. But my new college says they didn't receive any money from the previous college. I am worring about getting this money back. Is there any chance for me to claim this money from the credit card company, which my credit card belongs?
Thanks.0 -

An update on my Adams card charges. Got a letter today offering me £170 good will payment. My original claim is for £526. What they say is this is the diference between the £22 £20 and £15 charges and the £12 the Ombudsman says if fair. I think i'll ask for the rest as they have been totaly unfair in their charges. I got £20 in April when i paid few days before the due date. When i had my first charges they were diferent every month once it would be £22 next would be £20 and the most confusing thing was that the minimum payments would not reflect the money owed. For example if my limit is say £250 they would ask for minimum payment £5 even though i have used all the credit and they know with the interest i will be over the limit again. This is just an example not true figures.
So, i sent my second letter saying will claim all charges plus interest( comes to £664). Have i made a mistake in my initial letter only claiming the charges?
Got the promissed cheque today but instead of £170 as previous letter said it is for £86 (guess the rest was paid in the account as there was some balance to clear, not a problem) Should i keep the cheque till i get an answer?0 -

As i said my original claim was £526 which with the interest comes to about £664, so no it is not acceptable. And i don't think the charges were fair as they were not fixed, i was charged everytime a diferent ammount for the same type e.g late fee, overlimit fees (some of them i got even though payments received and cleared in time)0

Hi there, not sure if this is the exact place to ask these questions, but hopefully I picked the right thread. Anyway, I'm in the process of trying to claim back my credit card charges, so if someone could answer my questions that'd be great.
1) Do I need to send copies of my statements? The charges go back to 2002 (and I've kept all my statements going back to when I opened it in 2001), so I don't know if the ones older than six years will need to be sent or all/none.
2) The card I'm claiming back for is a Barclaycard. My current account is also with Barclays. How likely are they to close my account? If they did (and demanded instant payment) then there would be no way I could pay them. Consequently, I don't know what the best amount to claim back is. The charges amount to £246, £54 if I use the difference, and £358.40 if I add interest on the top. The balance on my credit card is ~£400 at the mo. I could pay off the remaining ~£50, but if they closed my current account I would not be able to pay back the overdraft. I know it's impossible to say how they will react to individual claims, but I'm worried about the risk of being forced to close my account, just wondering if anyone can point me in the direction of anyone's experiences with Barclays.
3) I did have another credit card c. 2002, but I no longer have any details of it, and I can't actually remember who it was with (I think it was Capital One), but I do remember some high charges from it. As it's older than six years, is there anything I can do, and is there a way to find out who it was with? It might have been active slightly within the six-year window, but I'm not sure.
4) Even if they don't close the account, would they temporarily suspend it? I need to make some purchases on it next week, if the letter arrived before then, would I not be able to use it?

On (1 ) You need a schedule of charges and do not need to send the statements. 6 years back is how far you can go.
(2) credit card is separate agreement to bank account.
3) is statute barred ie over 6 years as this is a credit card complaint
4) no they won't suspend the account.0
