  • Hi,I'm new to this forum, but have been reading this with great interest. Can someone please advise me as I have credit card debt with £8000 outstanding. I now find myself in a position where I cannot make the repayments every month. I was approached by a company called First Step Finance who informed me that for a monthly fee they would take it over and check to see if these agreements were legal. In the meantime they said I should ask those creditors chasing/calling me to contact them and they would advise them that they are requesting agreements and they would stop calling me. I now see from this forum I can use those template letters and do it myself. However, while those letters go to them and they take x no of days to reply or not, how do i deal with the calls, and will i go into default ( probably yes) and can they send bailiffs around. Please advise, as I'm getting really stressed.
  • Last November my girlfriend had received a call from the HBOS stating that she was overdrawn on an old current account she had forgotton about by £90 due to a PC world DD still coming off. She went into her local branch to clear the balance and the lady at the bank stated to her that there was a zero balance on the account and no more charges due!

Recently she has received another call from the bank stating that the account is overdrawn again, asking her to pay £100 to cover past and future charges.

She would like to know where she stands with regards paying this balance, as the DD was stopped, and according to when she went in branch that there were no more charges coming off.

Of course she would like to claim all charges back for this account, though for the moment doesnt want to incur any futher charges though doesnt want to pay what is due as she feels it isnt her fault!

Any help on this matter would be greatly appreciated.

  • Hi, im sorry i'm not meaning to be repeat posting.

I had received an offer from Bank of Scotland Visa for £250 out of £1100 they were due. I accepted the offer at the time as I was already over my limit and needed the money asap to bring my back within my credit limit.

What I would like to know, is that if I am able to still push to get the remaining balance due even though I signed and accepted there offer.

    Thank you

Depends if the offer said full and final settlement. If it did then you can't.

Just dug out the letter they sent me. It does say full and final settlement, though still states a gesture of goodwill and without admission of liability. Is there definatly nothing else that could be done?
  • Hi everyone!
Just wondering how long it has taken people to get replies from Egg & Lloyds TSB CC's requesting statements or listings of charges?
Also if anyone on a debt management plan has requested a refund & how they got on?
    Many thanks,

Hmm.....but surely what posters have been saying here is, if it does come to the crunch, the companies do not want to test the £12 charge in court either?

My partner has just been offered the "difference" figure between what she claimed and the £12 charge. I note, on the success thread, that many people are sending off letter 2 and then getting the whole amount.
I have looked at the guide and is the 'letter 2' that is referred to the one threatening court action?

    Thanks in advance.
