capital one take weeks to reply if they bother at all, by far the worst to deal with .Well them and hsbc who completey ignore you..Give them a ring but be prepared to deal with some very unfriendly and unhelpful people .

can someone please point me in the right direction for a template letter for claiming back credit card charges. thanks.xxx
  • Thanks Simon 111, Trust me to pick the plebs of the cc world....then again didn't have much choice!!!
Will give them a ring and see where that gets me!

Sandraroffery - if I've done this right it should take you straight to the letter I used http://images2.moneysavingexpert.com/attachment/cc_letter1.rtf
If it doesn't work(I'm not very technical), go to "reclaim £1000s" tab on the main page and can find it from there. Good luck.

I've had offers from both Halifax and MBNA so far but I've replied saying I want full reimbursement. MBNA originally put some rubbish in there about me being in arrears etc (I'm on DMP) as though they were trying to make me feel grateful that they had offered me anything..... Thankfully due to this site I know better and will go ahead and see if I can get the full lot back.

    Here's hoping!:T

Oh, NatWest and Barclaycard requests going off today :rotfl:

    Hi,
I'm just in the process of reclaiming from Egg. Did you use the template letter from this site to ask for the list? I had no problem getting the list using the template but I also phoned them to check they received the request. If you did use the template I would phone them and ask for the list, they didn't cash the £10 chq I sent either. When you call I would mention that by law they cannot with hold information about the charges. Make sure its a list of CHARGES you are requesting not STATEMENTS as they're different. If you really get nowhere after calling then you can go to the FOS and they'll sort it. The girl I spoke to was really helpful, be firm but friendly!

Just a note, I'm reclaiming £460 including interest. The 1st letter back from Egg after asking for the money was a complete fob off. charges are fair and legal ra ra ra! next reply was an offer of £40 (difference between £20 and £16 charges) Just sent another letter last week declining £40 informing them it will be my last correspondance before going to court so just waiting for the reply. Have read other people's Egg stories on the forum and they seem to play harder to get than some of the others but don't give in!

    Good luck, keep us posted

yes just use the 2nd letter saying your not happy with the offer and request the full amount again, with the same list of charges. if you follow the guide on the main page it is really quite simple to follow
