hi all,
is it still worth applying for reclaims considering the state of banks nowadays?0 -
I have recently been charged £3 ,plus interest, for a transfer of money into a bookmakers a/c. Nationwide tell me this is counted as a "cash advance" and it is all covered inb the T&Cs. I find that Barclaycard do not charge these transactions as cash advances, which is a card I have previously used. Is there anyway I can claim this, admittedly small, amount back. It really bugs me !
Others at least take this as a warning when dealing with Nationwide Credit cards0 -
Struggling to find a relevant open thread - this is a bit of a ramble... hope it isn't too much in the wrong place.
I have arrears on some of my settled debts on my credit rating.
There is a bad 6-month-er from the finance deal I took out at 16 - stupid stupid Helen (wouldn't have been so bad paying off my scooter for 3 years had I not written it off after 2 months with only 3rd party cover and having to find cash for other methods of transport to get to college whilst earning £3.80 an hour at the weekend!!), that is wiped off Nov 09 (6 yrs from settlement) so lets ignore that.
Then I was foolish with my Natwest student credit card so there are a a couple of one and two month arrears, little yellow and orange dots on there. Not sure how concerned I should be about these as naturally the 6-month one is the defining problem. CCard account was settled about 2006 so it is stuck on there for some time.
I HAVEN'T claimed my charges from the credit card, the statements I haven't lost covers about £150 (might be a bit more if I request copies but not a lot so not really worth the hassle I reckon). It is not a fortune. I note that people demand that defaults are wiped as part of the reclaim charges settlement. Not sure if my arrears come under that bracket? I'd happily not take a penny if I had no more orange blobs as it will be worth much more come mortgage application time.
So basically, if I go through the process with the right letters etc etc, has anyone knocked arrears marks off their rating?
Thanks in advance)

For Thoy.
I am currently trying to reclaim a lot of these £3.00 "cash transaction charges" for payments to an online betting company using a Capital One card.
I too have noticed that only some cards do this. This seems therefore that it is definitely worth taking a strong line, including Small Claims Court action if necessary. It may take some time but I will put a note on this thread as things progress.

Pmeeds'cash withdrawal' means a withdrawal of cash made by you or any cardholder and also means any transaction made where you or any cardholder: obtain foreign currency, travellers' cheques and/or money orders; make an electronic money transfer (excluding balance transfers); make a payment to open a deposit account; carry out a transaction where payment is made to an establishment that is identifiable as carrying on gambling and the purpose of the transaction is payment for gambling activity;0 -
