Hi, just after some advice please. I have recieved a response from Lloyds after my 1st letter advising me that they will not pay what i was asking but would refund what they thought was fair ( i.e the difference between £35 and £12 charges). I have sent my 2nd letter telling them I want the full amount refunded but in the meantime I have recieved a cheque for the amount they offered. Do I cash this cheque or will that in effect be seen as me accepting their offer?? Or will they send another if they decide to pay up in full ?? Really unsure as to what to do, please help.

You should of sent the cheque back to them with the letter, but dont cash it and wait for a reply.

  • Has anyone here had problems with MBNA???

I have been waiting a month for a return call. I rang them to complain about a late charge & interest made to my account. They today agreed to recredit me half of the late default payment (£6) and interest (£24) AFTER calling me ridiculous for complaining about the fee and telling me my account was non profitable because i pay my balance off in full.

I asked if he thought it was acceptable to speak to customers like that and he said he was simply replying to something i brought up. He said if i wasnt happy about my charges or him to complain but he was the officer there at the Bank so he was the highest person there.

I was gobsmacked! Is this normal and acceptable??? My payment was made 3 days b4 the due date but because of the processing time of payments they said i was late and it was acceptable to charge me. Is this correct??? Shud i just accept this??

Any replys or help even to tell me this is the norm will be greatfully received.

can i just ask a question here??? credit cards are repaying the £12 charges??? i thought that they were only repaying the charges that were being charged BEFORE they were reduced to £12???

must get back on the claiming then, if this is the case.xxxx

Hi everyone i have succesfully claimed my charges back against mbna and mint great ,however they have refunded the amount to my card .Again not a problem. But i am still in arrears with my payments as they have took it of the outstanding balance and do not class it as a payment even though i am now several hundred pounds below my credit limit also the limit is showing as £3,400 and balance of £2,800 yet the available to spend amount is £0. i cannot pay the arrears as no income what so ever at the moment and thought that the refunding of charges would give me some breathing room unfortunatley not
I could possibly borrow some money to bring the account up to date payment wise but would they allow me to access the £600 i have available as credit.I need to use the card in the short term as i am due a large sum which will allow me to pay of the balance in around 6 weeks.I dont want to do this but have no other option.
What i dont want to do is borrow some money bring the payment up to date and still not be able to use my card .Frankly i cannot bear the constant phone calls from these people on a daily basis any help would be gratefully received.thanks

    Hi
You should have a read of Martin's article, everythings explained there.
    http://www.moneysavingexpert.com/reclaim/credit-card-charges
Then I would suggest searhing both this thread and the discussion thread for the company you are reclaiming from to see other people's experience of getting the £12 charges back.
Also, if you have any more questions, you might get a better response posting on the credit card reclaiming discussion thread.

This thread is just for people posting thier success stories, so hope to see you here again soon posting your success! :)

can anyone tellme if it is usual for the credit card companies to repay the £12 fees?? on the 'successes' thread, it would seem so. i have been holding fire because i thought they wouldnt.

someone asked about MBNA?? absolutely dreadful people!!!! i have been dealing with MBNA on a completely unrelated matter since last september. i cannot get a straight answer out of them; they made arrangements to call me at a particular time on a particular day, and didnt. they havent answered a single letter' and there have been about 15 up to now. they have had a breakdown of income and outgoings 6 times and still wont agree to a reduced payment. complete doughnuts the lot of 'em!!!

methinks its time to hand it all over to the FO.
  • Does anyone know how long it takes to get a response from Capital One re:charges??? It's been a couple of weeks since I sent the 1st template letter........is it me being impatient or is it time to follow it with a phone call?!?!?!?
