Return the cheque to Cahoot
and tell them you have already passed your case to the FOS

Can I ask for some advise?
I've written to one of my bank account providers (RBS) and one credit card provider (HBOS) with the template letters. The RBS have responded as expected and have logged the claim pending the outcome etc etc.
HBOS however have come back and said as the charges we're reclaiming were £12 a throw (4 x £12 = £48) and are therefore fair asnd that we must respond to the FOS if we remain unsatisfied.
Is there any guidance with ref to HBOS's response?

"Hi there all, am new on forum,
1. Sent off to GE Capital band re Debenhams card at end of January requesting £263. inc interest - havent heard anything off them so sent 2nd template letter last night.
2. Sent letter to Barclaycard master card requesting £589. inc interest they credited £159 to my card - still owe £1,100
3. Sent letter to Barclaycard visa requesting £280. inc interest and they credited £120 - still owe £380.
Second letter will be going off to Barclaycard re trying to get more re the charges.
As you can see I am not very good with money but basically over a 3 year period Barclays have charged me £5,500 in charges on my business account which i had to open with them as i took out a loan to purchase some land to put my horse on and the only way they would do it was via a business mortgage even though i only have my normal wage!"
Just had contact from B/C visa they are crediting my account with additional £204.00 plus interest ( total of £316 plus interest) and for my master card, additional £364.00 plus int (total of £516 plus int) so i think that is a real good result.

i'm a newbie and this is my first post. I've been reading alot about reclaiming charges on my credit cards. I have credit cards from the past that have been closed for quite some time now and i am sure i was occassionally charged for late payments etc and don't know whether it is worth enquiring with them. What do you think? Is it just as easy to call them and ask for the past 6 years claims or does it have to be in a letter?
Thanks in advance x
yes i was in same position as yourself. i rang bank and told them i was an account holder 5 years ago but no longer knew my account number. they went through the usual security checks then told me my number. once i knew that i set about following all the instructions on the website. i got about 95% of my charges back.0 -
I claimed £60 plus interest of £23.00
They have offered £24 plus interest of £9.00
What do you think guys? Too small to go for?
How do you word it in the MCOL?
5. Claimant claims: (a) return of the amounts debited of [insert total charges]; (b) Interest per S.69 County Courts Act 1984 of 8% per annum from the date they were deprived of the money [insert amount of interest as calculated with the bank charges calculator] continuing at the daily rate of 0.022% until judgment or payment.
Do I put £60 and £23 in or £36 and £14 (the balnce o/s) in?
Sorry, if its obvious ...want to get it right
Thanks0 -
Will this work if I never used this credit card? I got Abbey c card with 13 months interest free back Dec 2007. So I Balance transferred around 5000 into it. But I missed the end term and didn't pay back the full amount by this Feb. So I got charged interests on both Feb bill and March bill, also will be charged interests in April bill. Can I claim the charges back? Thanks.

Been a while since i posted on this topic as i have been through the reclaiming process and have been refunded nearly 2K worth of funds.
However i am still doing battle with Time Retail Finance / Aktiv Kapital.
Are credit card companies required by law to hold a certain amount of statement data before deleteing it ?
and does it matter if the account is open or closed ?
I.e. I am chasing Time Retail finance via the ombudsman for statements..And got a reply yesterday that they no longer hold data on the account due to its age.. It was transferred to the debt collector in 2005..
I thought 6 Years was a requirement ? Anybody help
Many thanks
Darren
