Credit Card Reclaiming Discussion

Hello i'm new to this taken me half hour to work out how to post.
(Athough still not sure i got it in right place)
anyway i have a question, that im hoping the more exprianced credit card reclaimers will be able to help me with. As i dont really want to follow up my letter for a list of charges on my accounts with a phone call, and make my self look stupid. Although, I proberly am now! anyway to my question.
Recently i sent a letter off to GE MONEY with requard to some charges on some storecards i had with them, One current, (debenhams) and three more
(burtons, topman, and mothercare) that have been closed since Aug 04.
I Have today recieved a reply, but which appears to only have the charges levied to my debenhams account.
When i edited Martins letter for charges i put my account number for my open account, but not having the other account numbers, I wrote,
2. BURTON,TOP MAN,MOTHERCARE ACCOUNTS I HAD WITH YOU THAT WERE CLOSED ON OR AROUND THE 25/08/04, THE ACCOUNTS WERE IN MY NAME WITH POSTAL ADDRESS AS ABOVE, AND WERE OPENED AROUND THE YEAR 2000.
I also wrote that if they had any problems locating the accounts and needed more information that they could call me, giving my phone number, and stating what times were best to call.
Now to my QUESTION (At last i here you say)
with the letter i enclosed the cheque for ten pounds as suguested, was i right in thinking that, this should have been enough for all accounts in my name, or should i have sent ten pounds for each account?
if anyone can advise i would be greatfull, as this may save me emmbassing my self when i phone them.0 -
Hi there all, am new on forum,
1. Sent off to GE Capital band re Debenhams card at end of January requesting £263. inc interest - havent heard anything off them so sent 2nd template letter last night.
2. Sent letter to Barclaycard master card requesting £589. inc interest they credited £159 to my card - still owe £1,100
3. Sent letter to Barclaycard visa requesting £280. inc interest and they credited £120 - still owe £380.
Second letter will be going off to Barclaycard re trying to get more re the charges.
As you can see I am not very good with money but basically over a 3 year period Barclays have charged me £5,500 in charges on my business account which i had to open with them as i took out a loan to purchase some land to put my horse on and the only way they would do it was via a business mortgage even though i only have my normal wage!0 -

Make sure you do send the second letters to Barclaycard - I did with mine and my husbands and ended up getting full refunds. As you will see from my earlier posts in this thread first of all they offered my husband £32 and we ended up getting £335 :T . Good luck0 -

List all the charges separately but claim the whole amount (£12's included), and you will be surprised at how the interest adds up! I have claimed from four different CC's and Store cards, three are still ongoing but MBNA refunded all charges even the £12 ones. Nothing ventured nothing gained!0 -
Hi can anyone help, applied for a refund on the charges I received on my current account. I received the usual letter re; the fees being fair after a couple of letters still no joy, at the time I was struggling financially in the respect the fees were just making a snowball effect of charges and couldn't see a way out financially, the bank wrote back and still deemed I was not in financial difficulty. I threatened court action but still nothing. I haven't done anything now for a few months. If the court deems that the bank charges are unfair does this mean I will automatically get my charges back or do I have to act further??

Hi everyone, I reently sent off a letter to A & L requesting payments on my credit card. I used the site template letter.
I received a letter today from them stating that my card was issued on 11th Nov 2005 and that PPC was not applied for til Nov 2006.
I have no recollection of this.
In conclusion, the point out to me that it was my rsponsibility to check my monthly account and that I could have cancelled it at any time.
They regret to inform me thta they are satisified the cover was requested by me.
They now believe that the issue has been fully investigated and that they have exhausted their internal complaints procedure....consequently, this is their final response to me, but they have referred me to the FOS.
Is it worth the hassle trying to fight a big company like this.
My argument is that I wasnt aware that I was paying so much insurance cover on my credit card ...
Do I continue to fight my case with them.
By the way, the letter is full of financial terms that I dont understand.
Best wishes and thank you in anticipation for your replies,
Anne0 -
Afternoon everyone,
Attempting to reclaim credit card charges from Capital one £1056.00 (which includes 8% statutory interest), Cap 1 have offered £240 plus £20 possible interest, which we refused. Cap 1 have sent another letter offering the same amount with an acceptance form for us to sign, and a footnote in the letter saying they want us to accept so we can put this behind us and save the courts valuable time (Bl**dy cheek!). Has anybody had experience of using MCOL, and do Cap 1 pay out before court date. Thanks in advance for any helpSparky0107 - Sealed pot challenge member #002. Im in the same position with Capital One - they offered me £232 plus £20 interest - full amount of charges plus 8% interest is 1237. I have filed a court case with MCOL this morning for £1307 (charges plus 8% interest plus £70 court fee). I think from what Ive read on here they tend to pay out before the court case (Im hoping and praying lol!!!). Good luck0 -

Thanks Rosie2404,
The letter from Cap 1 is very patronising, and has really got my back up  , think I will start MCOL for my DW  , she really doesn't want to go to court either. Has the court charge gone up I thought it was £60?

The amount of the court fee depends on how much you are claiming I think as when I did my husbands one in draft (need to send that off too!) his came up as £60 but his claim is for £555 so I presume it is because of the higher amount.
I know they are awful  - I have had so much trouble with them just trying to get the copies of my statements. If I get this money back it is just about enough to pay off my card :j which was cut up a long time ago and I will not have to have anything more to do with the 'orrible lot :rotfl:
Just looked at Mcol and it says ISSUED 03/03   so that means the paperwork is on its way to Capital One now........ they have 14 days to respond0
