Just a quickie - Does anyone have any experience of getting monies owed if the Credit Card has been closed

I am guessing the task will be a lot harder???

I recently sent off your template letter to request the account number of my girlfriends old credit card. We were sent a reply with her credit card number, not account number. Will this do in the place of an account number?.

When i send a cheque to either Capital One and Halifax for the list of my credit card charges, who do i make the cheques payable to ?

i have recently been contacted by some claims firm ,asking if i would like my balance canceling on my credit card as it was misold according to the credit act 2007 ? they are also wanting to charge £1000 for this service which they say is totaly refundable , can any one tell me if this is a scam or have any of you done this succesfully ? cheers

3 claims going through all with three very different responses so far:

Monument - v.easy and quick - letters sent claiming 864 plus int. they have paid 864 - accepted
HBOS - requested statements>received them>sent refund letter claiming 645 inc int >no reply so far > submitted to FSA now
Style - received statements from 2005 to present (although had the account since 2000!) nightmare getting hold of them but should be on the way to me now.

Hopefully will get all three settled within the next couple of months and this will help towards my goal for this year.

If you take a look through these posts, all credit card companies will pay out as they have to otherwise they would be under investigation by FSA if they didnt. If you are dealing with current account bank charges, those are on hold.

I would say if credit card - claim for them, if bank, put claim in but be prepared to wait.

apologies, just seen the hardship rules so not sure about the bank charges

I am trying to claim back charges for my sister on various cards from GE, I have sent the letters requesting a list of the charges and they have written back saying they are unable to send them and can only send charges from 2005 and even these seem really haphazard they have missed out months etc, what do I do now

I have just received two more offers from halifax credit card and Mint card refunding me fully for the penalty charges. I had to send at least three letters to both but got there in the end. To anyone claiming back charges -Don't give up the battle they try every trick to put you off pursuing them !!

Husband has also had his charges refunded by Lloyds TSB credit card which has cleared his account and left him with some to spare:j :j
