Credit Card Reclaiming Discussion

Is it possible to reclaim the tax on your annual personal tax return on the £10 paid to the credit card companies / banks under the Data Protection Act when requesting a list of all your past charges (ie; stage one of the 'game'), since it is after all an expense?0

This is my first post to report my reclaiming success with Credit Card Charges. I have had the following successes to date (couple more in progress):
Company: Barclaycard
Amount reclaimed: £2300
Amount received: £2300
The story:
First request for details: 11.10.08
Second request for details: 05.11.08 (first request ignored so sent this one by recorded delivery = result)
First request for refund using standard letter: 29.11.08
Offered £600 plus interest: 05.12.08
Follow up letter sent requesting full refund: 13.01.09
Letter confirming full refund as 'goodwill gesture': 23.01.09
Result - £2300 richer. Many many thanks Martin Lewis and everyone on this website helping people to reclaim unfair charges.
Kind regards

Hi
Can you let me know if you had the refund credited to your account or received it by means of a cheque?
Thanks0 -
Hi ,
I made a claim to Barclaycard for £950-I will post the details in the "sucessful claims" forum when finalized.
I have just had £220 paid to my credit card account (thanks Martin) but now dont really know how to progress with claim for balance - Does anyone know if there is template letter that Martin supplies to cover this outcome.
Any help much appreciated.

Hello everyone!
I have recently submitted a claim of just over £1300 from CitiCards through the Financial Ombudsman Service. Like 'skintassistant' has asked, I would like to know if anyone can advise of possible success or time frames please?
I also cannot find the final letter from CitiCards which stated that they have had over a dozen cases of success in court etc. As I did not provide this, will this hinder my case? I provided copies of the statements, the interest calculated with amounts and dates and the letters I sent to CitiCards. I am anxious about a)success and b)time as I could be doing with the money.
What does the process involve from here on in? What do I have to do? Does the FOS do everything once they receive my form? Is every claim accepted by the FOS?
Any advice will be greatly appreciated!
Many thanks0 -
Hi
I have a loan from the Bank Of Scotland with monthly repayments by direct debit. On a number on occasions in the past my bank has bounced the ddr and I have been charged a fee by BoS (as well as by my bank!).
Are these fees covered by the "bank charge reclaiming" rules and should I be trying to recover them from BoS (I realise that my bank fees are covered but not sure about the loan related fees)?
Thanks to anyone who can advise.0 -

I received a credit to account and then asked for the balance by sending my original claim letter with slight amendment adding the wording....I again request that you refund all charges.......... with a new date.
This did the trick.
Thanks

How do you claim if you haven't got the statements etc... any chance?
I'm not sure how much and where, but no I have been charged the odd few times over the years, does this also cover overdraft charges?
Is it worth banging out a few letters and see?Cheers John
Best to write first asking for copies of statements going back 6 years. Then you can go through statements (with a highlighter pen) and identify all charges. Then you can put these into the interest calculator and it produces a list for you than you can use in the standard letter.

Hi i am a newbie, i sent my 1st letter a couple of weeks ago asking for my statements and a £10 cheque they got back to me with in the week with a statement and the £10 cheque back (very kind). This morning got a letter back saying basically that they will pay the differance between £20 to £12. I claimed for £412 which is late payment fees and over limit fees, they said that on 21 occasions i was charged £12 and on 8 occassions i was charged £20 so they are offering £64 in difference. A very nice letter but i was hopeing for more where do i stand and what shall i do now
