  • Has anyone had any success with morgan stanley. I am in the process of trying to reclaim credit card charges but havent got the address. Can anyone help
  • Hi all,

I've initiated a claim against Halifax for credit card charges and thus far they have acknowledged but not filed a defence. They have about a week out of their 28 days left to file a defence, but I've just noticed an error on my part. I.e. the daily interest charge which I rather stupidly put in in pounds is £1/day rather than 0.10p per day.

Do I need to tell the court? Will Halifax be given extra time to consider the amendment? etc... what should I do?!

    Any help greatly appreciated.

    Cheers,

    Tim

    Hello everyone!

There is very little information in the Forums of dealings with the financial ombudsman service. I have sent off my form to register a complaint against Citicards but I didn't phone them first. Should I have phoned first? Should I phone them now? I am worried that I have messed things up already as I have also left it over six months since I received their last/final letter (which I cannot find) as I was abroad and didn't have everything at hand.

Any advice of using the financial ombudsman service would be most appreciated. I hope I have not ruined my chances of reclaiming.

    thanks

    Hi
Please could someone help me with what to do next. I wrote the SAR request to Capital One with a cheque for £10 - they have cashed the cheque and sent me a letter offering the difference between the £20 charges and the £12 charges which amounts to £232. There is no list of the charges or copies of statements so I have no idea of the dates etc for charging interest or taking the claim to court. I do not want to accept this figure I want to try and get the whole charges back so can anyone tell me which letter I need to write to go from here as I have no total to ask for as they havent sent me the information I requested!!
    Thanks for your help.

    Hi there

Request for a copy of the calculations of how they came to these figures, dates etc.
They should provide this for you, through the post.;)

    Capital One
    Claimed £548 + £185 interest
    offered £524 + £118 interest (accepted!)

Woohoo! Took a bit longer than I thought, but just had letter from FoS saying Cap1 are paying (near as damn it) my full claim, which is to be taken off my balance.

the charges amount offered is only £24 short, and i was stretching the interest issue a bit too.. best not push my luck!

Claim started in Aug/08, duff offer recd Sept, they wrote back saying no further offer, so FoS form done in Oct.. seems Cap1 even stalled dealing with them, as FoS wrote earleier in Jan, saying a further review of case and contact with Cap1 was being undertaken..

So MSE’rs, stick to your gunds, NEVER take their first offer (unless its in full!), and use the FoS if you have too- its a dead easy form, they do the rest/

    And above all, be patient!

Hi were these charges the £20 charges or £12 charges or a mixture of both please? Thanks
  • not claimed anything back as of yet . can anyone tell me if natwest only got charges of £12 is it still worth claiming or will they not pay out on these amounts .owe thousands but any amount back would help :D
  • I had a company claim back charges from Citi Card, They said I owed them £2099.99p in charges. I had that wiped off, but I still owe the Debt collection company a £54.00p balance. I now owe the claim company £600.00p for services on winning the claim, If I still owe the debt company the money how have I won? It seems that Citi sent the money to the debt company they sent it back job done. Am I being stupid here or have I been mugged off leaving me with owing two companies rather than just the one. It seems that the company I authorised to help have just taken Citi Cards word for it and not calculated what I have paid to CC...ie interest, Any help would be great:mad:
  • Dear forum, we are first time users and are looking for advice/your views. We recently contacted a finance claims checker service who are asking for £295 up front. Apparently if you applied for a credit card before 2007 the T&C were based on a 1974 act? and this company are saying they can wipe the debt free - seems to good to be true, any thoughts. (If I am on the wrong thread I appologise!!!)
