PenPin I can appreciate why you are upset with your sister and the Postie, and I would recommend caution when dealing with it. It may be better for you to try and be neutral or supportive about it, rather than being against it. Then let it run its course.
It will either work, or it will fizzle out. If it works, then you'll need to come to terms with it anyway. If it doesn't, then you'll have nothing to worry about.
Being openly against it is not going to help. At best, it's just going to give your sister more stress - and you care about her too much to want to do that. At worst, it's going to make her more determined to make a go of it with this chap; love loves a bit of oppression.
If you're openly against it and it doesn't work, she won't be able to turn to you for support in case you say "I told you so".
I just want her to be happy:D This has happened before and I really dont think she can go through the heart ache again! This will be her 2nd divorce and she is 30. I am not judging her, but she has the kids to think about initially as priority. I think she needs some proper space with no attachments to sort her head out thats all.
Im just an over-protective older sister:rolleyes:

Him: Erm, need a hand with that mum?
you: yes dear, so lovely to see a young man with an interest in baking!
Oh go on, post what the dialogue was really?!

Hi everyone!
Hugs to those who need them.
Oldstyling went on apace in my household over the weekend and consequently ended up in a heap Sunday night admiring some of those rather easy on the eye chaps on Strictly:D OH spent a fruitful few hours fixing the freecycle shelves up in the garage so I now have an extra shelf for my quarterly Lidl trip coming up this weekend. I've also narrowed down the paint for the kitchen and shall pick that up with my 15% off Homebase voucher from the National Trust in a couple of weeks time. Managed to get a fair amount of sorting out done aswell and have now got rid of 2 big bags of the small person's clothes he's outgrown and reorganised the airing cupboard. I found hidden away up there his old waterproof sheet which proved very useful for OH when he was stripping off the kitchen plaster:T
Fortunately it wasn't a case of all work and no play. My friend who relocated to Germany [she's German] back in the summer turned up unexpectedly on Friday eve which was a lovely surprise and another friend came over for a natter and a donut on Sat.
OS today has so far been making beds and cleaning the bathroom. OH is concocting some sort of filling to use up the creme fraiche and tortilla wraps we've got lurking for supper and then I'm on a late for work. Should keep me out of the shops at least!!

Afternoon all,
tired mum, I don’t know what to say but just wanted to send you (((hugs))). You are always so supportive of the rest of us, so I hope that you know that you can come here any time and get as much support from us as you need.
vastsarah, (((hugs)))it sounds like life isn't easy for you at the moment, but it's good to see you posting again.
mrs mix, glad you got on ok at the doctors, hopefully the antibiotics will start to kick in soon.
Hester, still reading and enjoying your blog.
Olliebeak, like you I’m trying to get the stuff in the freezers down but every time I think I’m beginning to get somewhere it seems to fill itself up with more bargains!
Jackie O, If you can, please pop in and let us know that you’re ok.
Nelski, the kitchen’s looking great….what are you going to do about the sink? That wine bottle looks lonely! You need to either go and get some more to keep it company or put the poor thing out of it's misery!
I enjoyed coffee and a gossip with my friend this morning, we went to a garden centre but I was well behaved and only bought a few bulbs for the garden.
Change of plan for tea tonight, I’m going to freeze the egg yolks and have a go at toad in the hole instead. It’s something I’ve never tried before but as I got some sausages from the butchers which the kids love, I thought I’d give it a go.
There was leftover salmon and pasta that I’d packed into a lunchbox for dd to take to school as it’s one of her favourites and she has a microwave in the sixth form common room so can easily reheat it, but I’ve just looked in the fridge it’s still there! As I’m not sure if it’ll freeze well or not, so I think that I’ll just give it to Mr Pink when he comes home for lunch.
Take care,
Pink0 -
Hi all.
TIRED MUM - (((hugs))) to you; it sounds like a horrible situation to be in especially as you know what life is like when he isn't around. It's not fair on you or the children. What would he be like if you waited for a quiet moment and told him? He might not realise what he's doing. I do hope you can sort something out but you'd have to be a saint to be able to put up with it indefinitely. Good luck.
AMIE - thanks so much for the hunk. He looks (and I'd like to say, feels)just like Colin Firth - just the tonic I needed. Can I keep him for......well, not long, just a couple of years?
ELLIE and VASTSARAH - many (((hugs))) to you and also to POOKY and PAM - sinusitis - you poor poor things. I've escaped it this time but I know just how bad you must both be feeling; it's one of the worst things I have ever had. Hope it soon clears up.
HAPPY BIRTHDAY - to all with birthdays today!
PEEM - thanks for the link to the monkey pattern - will make a few as Christmas when I've finished the Mr Bean's teddy bears.
HIME - welcome to you.
Well, I was up so early this morning that I was cream-crackered by 10 am and had a nap! I am still on the mend, though, so thanks for all your kind thoughts and hugs - I'm sure they have speeded up recovery. The power of the internet, eh?
Well, off to do a bit of paperwork before I pick DGS and DGD up from school (their mum has got the dreaded cold now, poor thing - but at least I am well enough now to do the school run). Have sold a book on Green Metropolis but will have to email the buyer to say I'll try and hand it into the Post Office tomorrow but don't know how long it will be before she gets it. Green Met did email a newsletter about the postal strike so, hopefully, she knows it may take a while.
Anyway, (((Hugs))) to all in need and hope everyone has a good afternoon.
Will try and call back later but this may be difficult - the grandchildren are staying for dinner and that's usually a riot!

Just edited to say HESTER - I, too, have been reading your blog! My DH finds it very entertaining, as well!KNIT YOUR SQUARE TOTALS:

Hi Y'all, enjoying a day at home today, which is probably why it is raining:rolleyes: Had to laugh at Cilla last night on Corri "I got to the end of the rainbow, and it were piddling it down!". Been there, done that, bought the brolli. LOL
Took Miss MATHLETT to the Dentist this morning, dashed into the library to stock up on bathtime/bedtime fun (boy! can ya tell I've been married long enough to have sported a 'mullet' on the big day. LOL) Does anyone else read JD Robb & Robert B Parker? I'm a bit adicted!
Found time to swing by Sainsbugs on the way back. Have their prices dropped or am I extra flush this week? I only went there cos I was in the centre of town with a thimble of petrol left and it was closest. Not as pricey as I thought it would be, and only about five people in there. YAY!
Dinner Tonight
Seven Vegetable Roast
Lemon & Garlic Cous Cous
and Garlic Sour Cream Dip
Homemade Apple & Cinnamon Pancakes
PP - I am trying to think of something supportive to type but my mind keeps filling with naughty postie jokes about 'special deliveries, bulging sacks and grabbing ya knocker etc etc' - I'm no help at all am I? Thinking of you tho chicken:o At least while he's on strike he's not pushing your sis up against the doorbell - I hope!
Pooky et al - can ya all stop bragging about your succulent SC Brisket. I cooked a joint in the SC on Sunday and it was as tough as ol shoe leather. Even the cats had to work it around their mouths a bit! I also cooked an 'All Day Macaroni Cheese' in it yesterday which the MATHLETTS renamed 'Hot Vomit'. I'm gonna push it to the back of the cupboard behind the Kenwood, Breville, Soda Stream, Doughnut Maker, Fondu Set and forget it for a bit. LOL
Gotta Go
Have a gudun

not easy situation......if he is at home during the week when the kids have gone to school - is there any chance of you taking the bull by the horns and saying "right, were going out for lunch today" (or whatever you like doing) ??? sometimes waiting for men to get into action can be forever!!:rolleyes:0
