Our nearest Lidl has just been refurbished, much nicer now. They've upped the number of checkouts from 4 to 6.... but still only ever seem to have two of them open!

Murphy's 4 pack is a good buy - about £2.20 versus £2.78 in Tesco and Asda, £3.60 in Sainsburys and a whopping £4.05 in Waitrose! :-o

What's a car park sale? I must be being blonde...I can only think of two things:

    1) selling their carpark
    2) selling their food, etc. in the carpark instead of in the shop.

I can't see it would be number 1 :rotfl: but is it really number 2?

    Nic

What they do is take pallets of all the non-food 'specials' and pile them up in the car park and sell the stuff off at 70% of it's original price. I have heard of people loading trolleys though and just being charged £20 for a trolley load.
Organised people are just too lazy to look for things

Whilst I fully respect your POV - I really like it and swig it back happily, that being said I did have to get used to it - Now I prefer it. :p

Just wondering (and sorry if I've missed it earlier on the thread...) has anybody come across the little "curry packs" which I think have only turned up very recently? They are little packs of chilli/lemongrass/ginger etc, costing 97p and they come in "Thai" or "Indian". For the Thai one you finely chop the ingredients, put them in a pan and add meat and a tin of coconut milk, and there's your curry - without having to source all the ingredients separately. The one thing it doesn't make clear (sorry, am a bit of a novice at cooking curry from scratch) is what sort of quantity it should make (i.e. how much meat to use/how many it serves). Any ideas? Am thinking of buying one early next week in order to use up a tin of coconut milk and some sticky rice!

No idea on the above, but I must say their "Madras" Curry Powder is fantastically tasty and no enhancers in sight, just various spices.

Sorry if this is in the wrong place, but didn't there used to be a thread about what was good at lidl? And if so, where has it gone?

I find its good for chilled stuff, but not much else. Good cheeses with things like parmasan a lot cheaper than other places. Potato salads, coleslaw etc is also very good and the selection of cold meats is great, with stuff like black forest ham being very good if you like like parma ham. If you've had coold meats like this on the continent you'll know what i mean.pesto, ciabattas and washing powders are also good.

The veg is also good value but i dont find its always the best quality, although some pre bagged stuff like baby leaf spinach is nice.

As far as frozen goods, their basic pizzas are very nice, and the ice cream takes lovely and is a big saving on similar in other stores.
