Mine's scheduled for the 12th, so I await your outcome with bated breath!

    UPDATE:

They must be mind readers, as I've just got an email from them "Reminder of Supply Switch Date" as being the 12th.

Yep I got that a couple of days ago but no info on how to open the account or send in a reading - perhaps that will happen either tomorrow or Monday but it would be nice to give a bit more info on what happens next and when.

Previous suppliers have asked for meter readings up to a week before the switch-over day.

Yes, with credit but that has been used up now so actually in debit at today's meter read. Fired off a complaint

I can see Octopus getting a lot of flak if they don't get their act together as well.

It's their own fault for taking on IRESA and then screwing their customers with a pretty expensive tariff.

Had they been a bit more competitive I'm guessing that more people would have stayed rather than trying to get out as soon as possible.

They wouldn't have had a mass exodus and the consequent extra work whilst in the middle of the changeover.

I've just worked out from my current meter read that I probably owe them about £8, as I'm shown as £89 in credit.

I've just transferred £20 into the Octopus account, which should give plenty of credit until the planned switch on 12th.

I too, will be very annoyed if they block the switch to Eversmart!

As you dont have to give them a meter read when you leave - it's the gaining supplier that does that, it's up to Octopus to send you a final bill after the transfer has been completed.

This withholding transfers unless an account was actually in credit was one of the big complaints (and I suspect downfalls) of IRESA.

I can see Octopus getting a big kicking if they try this one one

One thing I hate bout leaving energy companies is the :

"Sorry that you're leaving why are you leaving us? can we pay you to stay?" messages you start to get.

An email or letter is OK, and I can see that being an automatic thing, but a Phone call THEN and email saying the same thing, starts to feel a bit needy...

Not replied to either yet, the phone call went straight to voice mail. Never sure if it's better to reply, or just ignore and move on (like any other bad relationship...)
