Hey guys does anyone know the policy on the previous owners leaving a ton of rubbish and we want them to collect it but aren’t sure if this is okay?
This happened to my sister - if it's not listed on Fixtures and Fittings then they were required to remove it before handing over the keys. Talk to your solicitor and they should be able to arrange removal at the seller's expense.
Fab thank you! They’ve left a ton of stuff in the garden that’s a mess and dirty underwear 😂😂 which I defo do not want. I’ll take pics and ask them to remove them.
Oh gross, what is wrong with people?!

Fair warning, if they're anything like my sister's sellers, you'll need to do a lot of chasing and hassling for them to get it done.
Yeah honestly I might just do it myself! They’ve been bad enough and we’re trying to completely redecorate before moving in so it might be more hassle than it’s worth!
The bloody minded part of me would be inclined to push it if they've been bad already, but maybe I'm just a little petty! :P

Oh no @Cookie211- it must be the day for bad news as my solicitor has just come back to say they have got no response in over a week from either buyers or vendors solicitors. I honestly feel like giving up so I can completely relate to how you are feeling 😢 x

So after a couple of weeks of frustration and silence, we've had an email from our solicitor with the final replies and to arrange coming in for ID checks and signing contracts AND from the EA saying the foam has been removed, the roof will be re-felted tomorrow and the seller's have invited us over this evening to have a look before the work is complete.

So glad that we're finally getting things resolved and we may be coming to the end of this terrible process!

Haha no I totally am too! And I rlly want to be petty and ask them to come collect their dirty knickers 😂 but I don’t even want them getting in the way and seeing how we’ve basically stripped the place 😂 we’ve only got 2 weeks to try and paint it so don’t want any set backs.

So after our vendor pulled out of the sale on Monday, they have now resisted the house for £25K more!!!! I think they wanted to do this to us all along!!! The delay caused by our buyer’s solicitor and lender just gave them the excuse to justify this course of action. It’s so very annoying of them to do it four days from exchange though. I offered full asking price when it was listed so it wasn’t like I tried to cheat them in any way. Needless to say we will not be pursuing purchase of their property at any price!!! Congrats to those of you who have either exchanged or completed!!!!
Oh no, I'm so sorry - that's absolutely terrible! I know part of selling your house is about making money, but seeing things like that makes me so sad. It's also meant to be your home, and someone else's future home!

There really should be some protections for buyers for these sorts of situation, because it's totally unfair to string someone along and have them spend money on the process for them to decide suddenly they'd actually like more money. Like you said, it sounds like they were just looking for an excuse. Fingers crossed you'll find something better being sold by less selfish people soon!
Thank you, so do I. It doesn’t feel like it now but I think it might be a blessing in the long run
Similar happened to my mum years ago, The seller pulled out of the sale as he wanted more.

My mum and dad had paid for a survey and he argued with the fact the roof was goosed, So as my mum left she gave the copy of the survey to the next person viewing the property.

4 Months later they get a call off the EA asking if they were still interested in the house at a heavily reduced rate, Short answer no.

She had taken a job that came with a large 3 bed apartment as part of her contract and if she had bought the house she would have been at a major disadvantage.

Things happen for a reason !
  • Hi all! Been following so thought I would chip in as we are getting increasingly inpatient and just wanted to move in 😂
