The wait gets even more frustrating… we have been waiting for a completion date for a few weeks now. Vendors sols haven’t responded! Over the weekend we found out that the gas needs checking as it hasn’t been done since they moved in. So no there’s going to be another delay, I don’t have a clue how long one of those could take!
The wait really does suck - sorry to hear you've had another delay. But at least it's come up now and can be checked rather than you moving in and there being a massive problem. We've got a similar sort of delay, and frustrating as it is it's better than being blindsided by a massive repair when you're in. Fingers crossed they can get it checked quickly and you're good to go.
Yeah I totally agree! I am glad it’s come up now but it’s taken them 6 weeks to respond to that query so doesn’t fill me with confidence! Just hope it’s sorted ASAP! Goodluck with yours too!

@baileykxo - urgh, what a pain! That's definitely the most frustrating thing. Delays for good reasons are annoying but necessary. But when you find out it's just because people can't be bothered to answer a question or send a document it's just so disheartening. Feels a bit like you're the only one trying to actually keep things moving and get the sale completed!

  • Our buyer came again this weekend and we’re still excited so that’s calmed some of my anxiety.

My vendors EA also rang me to say they have definitely found somewhere but are now moving out as they can stay with family. Told the EA that the vendors solicitor is not responding to enquiries (& when they do they don’t give full info/evidence), hoping they can prompt as it the EA own solicitors -hmmm!

So everyone has their mortgage offers, draft contracts reviewed, searches for us and my buyers buyer received. Just our buyer waiting on searches and we’ve responded to initial enqueries. Awaiting full responses to our onward purchase as noted above.

Aiming for mid September completion - feels doable to me but people keep warning me it might be too soon. Just worried as our buyers buyer is FTB who will have been waiting 4 months by then. Eek!

Does anyone have any views on whether the timescales it’s doable? 😊

Yeah I’m hoping they made a mistake and they’ve had one since or, they can just get one ASAP and give a date 🥲😂

It should absolutely be possible if your vendors are vacating, but it really depends on the efficiency of all involved. If their solicitors aren't responsive then that makes it a real unknown. Our previous sellers lost their purchase due to an unresponsive solicitor, which is obviously an extreme case. However, you've got to hope that the EA will put pressure on if they're part of same company. This is what I'm hoping, as we have another terrible solicitor involved (our sellers too) and part of EA's company, so I'm just hoping we can get them to speed things up when we most need it. Impossible to predict, but you seem in a good position...so there is hope!
  • @birdmadgirl8 - thanks and hoping so! Good luck with yours too &🤞probate on your purchase gets sorted soon. I will keep on at the EAs and solicitors with the intention of them wanting to complete, just so they can be rid of my incessant pestering 😂

Ha! I'm doing exactly the same. Have just finished my set of chasing emails for the day. They will sooooo want rid of me by the end of this - and I'm fantasising about the day I don't need to chase a solicitor or agent. It's like a second job!

My husband suggested it could be a new career for me…..that just made me angry that he’s not as stressed about it as me. I will be much happier too when I’m not checking my emails every 2 minutes 😬 and enjoying my new home 🏠 (which is a dive but it’s what it can become!)
