For yesterday,
Up early, sunny but frost on the grass.
Breakfast and then listened to the Hurchers, comfort found in small, regular routine.
Rest of morning spent outside in garden, planted out carrots, beets, chard and salad leaves.
Both hungry and ready for our lunch, slow roasted brisket and small dog had some too.
Afternoon snoozes followed by a walk around the fields, so no-one and blessings counted that we have such access, we know some folk aren’t so lucky.13 -
Yesterday......
Planting baby lavender plants into containers to put out when the miniature daffs and hyacinths have finished. Our gardens, (for those of us who have them) will be part of our sanctuary this year.
Walk with dog in park, people with their dogs waving from a distance. My poor dog was demented, she had her tennis ball but I had found a lovely stick for her and she couldn't carry both in her mouth at once. She couldn't decide which to choose so I kindly carried the stick for her.
Roast venison for lunch (gift from a friend so free) - I am insisting, while my son is incarcerated here with me, that we have one meal a day in the dining room. I have shifted the main meal to lunchtime, I use the best china and we have two courses to the background of music from my CD collection. Very civilised.
Had a go at colouring my hair myself because I have a hairdresser appointment in a week or two and I can see that being cancelled. It turned out quite well, a box of blue and a box of purple, a little of each mixed up in separate bowls and applied to clumps of hair at random, left for 20 minutes and washed off in the shower. I am pleased with it. My neighbour has done a hairdressing course and has agreed to give me a trim if needed. I have suggested I sit on the low wall between our properties and she will have mask and gloves on.
There are more pleasures from yesterday but they have all melded into one. Being home, having my son here, my animals, the Spring weather......

Hello all, pleasures for yesterday....
The HT woke me up at 5:45am to give me a present for mother's day. he ordered it online and paid for it himself. He also brought me coffee in bed which helped with the early wake up
First food of the day was salted caramel fudge - see above
We were out and running the prom by 7am. For years I moaned about his early waking. It's come in handy this past week. We saw (at a distance of 4 metres or more) roughly 8 other people. Most shouted good morning to us.
Couple of hours chatting and online gaming with best friend. He's busy at work just now so a bit of escapism can only be a good thing.
The HT saying to me at bed time "It was nice saying good morning to those people today."
SSue cyber hugs. Please know that you're in my thoughts. Not much actual help when you're struggling I know. I wish I could do something more useful.

My neighbour has had second thoughts about cutting my hair as her father is getting chemotherapy. She's given me some tips about trimming it myself, and I've managed to do my fringe, which was the main problem.
I am waiting for the order to go into full lockdown, I will still be going to work though. We will then have to look for pleasures in the simplest of things. One life - your life - live it!9 -
Hello. Just put some chicken in the oven and taken some wraps from freezer. Will probably make a slaw and some salad. So for today lots to be grateful for.Apart from my abrupt start to the day ( which did calm down once we stopped being emotional and then got practical) I was not supposed to know she was coming home ( her whole year of adventure put on hold and she really hates it here and will sigh deeply and use up my oxygen in doing so) it was to be an early birthday surprise! However DD2 friend inadvertently dropped it into conversation when she dropped stuff on Saturday. So despite DD2 saying don’t let her know you know I let her know I knew as I said I hate surprises and I’d rather know where in the world you are...once again the mother was right! Her dad was called upon to do his heavenly bit and be with her the whole journey. And get her home safely.Despite Emirates saying they weren’t closing down flights till Wednesday they’ve started already so she can’t fly into Glasgow as planned. And a very convoluted journey and an extra $1750 to get these flights, and a huge wait of 12 hours at Dubai. But her brother will pick her up in Newcastle on Wednesday and they’ll be home for tea instead of lunch tomorrow. Just get home safe.So all that took up a lot of mental energy today! But nice doggy walks. Beautiful sunrise. Sky was crimson. It wasn’t warm today but feels like spring rather than winter.
washing hung out and almost dried. Smells lovely on the radiators.Work colleague messaged me did I need anything? And dropped a loaf off at front doorstep.
Friend messaged and dropped off some soup and some bread in freezer bags to keep for another time!Thought I should tidy the doorstep! Swept up, washed step. Planted some lavenders, pulled some weeds. Weed killer-Ed some others ! Looks better!Much nicer chat with my mother this afternoon. Much less disagreeable than yesterday.May have eaten some chocolate. But had a dance with my doggy! He does like a dance!Made fat balls for birds. Had some very excess fat from sliced sausage ( don’t normally get that much) mixed some suet, oats, and nuts I found in cupboard last week. The birds rather enjoyed it. Enjoyed watching them. Dog not so much.
Son phoned and we chatted for about half an hour...think the longest we’ve ever talked on the phone!
DD2 a bit brighter but not quite right.Have a nice night. Looking forward to watching soaps!12 -
SSue, please take these safe virtual hugs..
1 We foolishly thought we would look at online shopping but that’s not possible at all across all of them, Ocado had a 2 hour wait to get onto its site with nothing available, re-planning.
2 Full roast for dinner later, pork, apple, fresh veg and cheat Bessie roasts, and lo Christmas stuffing from the freezer.
3 Tidying/de cluttering no progress made, all I did was move stuff about, but I did decide what to do next aka tomorrow, procrastination is key!
4 Feeling grateful for having a garden and sunshine.
5 There is sugar free angel delight tonight, using up van supplies and I have to say one taste and I was taken back to childhood. Aw.

Pleasures for today (Still Monday!)
1) Not a bad sleep.
2) Had a massive clean of the kitchen - all cupboards and drawers cleared and cleaned, walls, floor, windows etc.
3) Poorly hen ever so slightly better. I cleared up round the compost heap and she had a few worms. Had a nice bunch of wallflowers off the allotment.
4) Bigger son was given 30 minutes to decide whether to stay in Norfolk on -site or come home. He got a lift as far as Solihull, which was helpful. I picked him up from there at 6. An absolutely massive line of traffic queueing through Longbridge for McDonalds! He's OK but they said to just pack a small bag (in France) as they thought they wouldn't be in England for long. So he doesn't have many clothes, phone charger, poker set etc.
5) Lost 3lbs.
6) Rather interesting (if an unpleasant panendemic) watching the prime minister this evening. We're going to use our daily exercise walking to the allotment to feed the hens. Its not really an allotment, just the fenced off corner of a large farm so there are no other plots and no one around.
