Saturday & Sunday pleasures
Didn’t rain although it was cloudy & very cold
The ropey piece of beef was slow cooked for 7 hours with a few vegetables & beef stock. Absolutely delicious 🤤 with mashed potatoes & green beans from the freezer.Enough left for Sunday’s dinner 😁
The hm soup is very tomatoey & quite spicy but 😋
Nice conversations with neighbours both Saturday & Sunday - 2m apart 🙂
Sunday is gloriously sunny & quite warm when the chill wind isn’t blowing
DH & I did some gardening - grass strimmed (cannot call it a lawn 😬) & tidying up. Plastic shelving unit dismantled & set up as 3 tables - ready for grow bags 😉Rhubarb is coming along nicely
The binmen turned up 🥳 - different contractor but everything gone - rubbish & recycling 🥳
Neighbour with an allotment has just given me 2 green mustard plants 🙏 need to look up how to cook but fresh hm greens 🥬 - brilliant
Finally watched the last episodes of Call The Midwife

For today cos i'm trying to limit screen time in the evenings at the moment
1) walking the dogs - we found a new bit close by, totally deserted, where i could let them off the lead
2) had a long blether on the phone with gbf - he phoned me last night but missed the call cos dd2 and i were watching the last 2 episodes of Dr Who
3) online church at 11 - it was done by the primus of the scottish espiscopal church. The website crashed when 303 of us had made it on - we will learn as we go along. i was one of the lucky ones - beautiful service followed by a blether over coffee on zoom
4) picked up the 2 mothers' day teas and some prosecco, delivered mum's, set mine out with lovely china i found up in the loft (though sadly not the cake stand - think that might have been decluttered cos we never used it!). couldn't get ds on group facetime or mum on group video due we suspect to the age of their tech, so whatsapped ds and dd1 on the phone, facetimed just mum on the ipad, propped both up on the table and had a very nice tea. The afternoon tea was huge. i will be having the other half for dinner! the food isn't dd2's kind of thing, so she had the scone and i iced a hot dog roll for her (without the hot dog!) - a childhood favourite
5) have cut the lawn for the first time this year. there is something very lovely about the smell of fresh grass. now to finish cleaning my room. let's see what ambridge brings...

For yesterday
1 The washing machine is broken, but fixable, we have ordered the (expensive) part that they will leave outside next week, thankfully dh is happy to repair as we do a lot of washing between us and the animals.
2 We appear have gone into a rather major de clutter mode, literally starting to fill my car up with things to move on and a list of things to complete during next week.
3 Grilled chicken, with salad and new pots is dinner.
4 Meal planning from the freezer, I guess that’s obvious at the moment.
For today.
1 In the garden enjoying the sun at least being out, playing with the animals, and cleaning the birds water.
2 It got too cold so inside to continue with my de cluttering, it appears to be creating myself a lot of work, I appear to have a soft spot for coats, jumpers etc etc..
3 Proper Cumberland snorkers and mash for tea.
4 Wished MIL a good day in the background as DH spoke with her.
5 A lost big box of malteasers has been found…

Hello, hope everyone is staying safe. Life here has been a bit crazy to say the least (I’m sure everyone is the same just now). I need to make more of an effort to come on here as it’s so important to look for the positive things in life right now. I’m looking forward to catching up on all your pleasures but here is mine for today:
A long awaited day off work - pottered about for a while this morning but then I blinked and suddenly it’s time for bed.
I got my washing out on the line for the first time this year - fresh washing always makes me happy
A nice walk to Aldi in the sun and I got everything I went for in Aldi including 2 bunches of flowers for £1 each that were supposed to be £9.99!
Spoke to all parents and siblings - everyone is safe and well...long may it continue.
Watched the 2nd episode of Penance. I really wanted to stay up and watch the last one as I want to know what’s going on but early morning tomorrow and all that so decided to come to bed instead.
Stay safe everyone and keep smiling

Pleasures for today (Sunday)
1) Not a bad sleep.
2) Smaller son made me a cooked breakfast.
3) Poorly hen rallying.
Argh, the line spacing is not working again!
4) Took mum a bunch of wallflowers from the allotment. Spoke to them all at a 5 metre distance. All the neighbours were having conversations with other neighbours at a similar distance over their boundaries. One neighbour had pulled over for a chat on his tractor. Had 3 eggs, parsnips and leeks from them. They've not been out in 7 days and I haven't been out in 5. I don't understand why you would, if not working. Their neighbour has added a few items on their supermarket delivery for them.
5) Had a carrier bag of nettles and made large batch of nettle soup plus nettle quiches. Boiled the parsnips and put them in the freezer. Made a large curry for tea with some for tomorrow and some for the freezer.
6) Had an email from the museum that I will (probably!) be working for.
7) Did some exercise on the Wii fit board.
8) Bigger son might be coming home tomorrow.

Strange day
1. Spent most of it alone in the garden. It was warm when sheltered from the bitter wind.
2. The flowers and blossom emerging. The garden is starting to look spring like.
3. We will be ok for wild garlic for the next few weeks.
4. DH went to garden and paint at MIL old house. May be ready to rent by mid April if anyone will want to rent it. He was there by himself so self isolating.
5. Spoke to my Mum on the phone. They went for a walk where it is normally very quiet but it was busy so they went home.
6. DS2 cooked tea. It was glazed gammon.8 -

Yesterday
Another sunny day. At least the weather is being helpful!
More face time and house party from DD and DS - today with mother's day wishes.
Msg from DD saying we could see the space station. Went out to look. It was a beautiful clear evening with a lot of stars. Had a little wobble when I remembered taking DGD outside one Christmas Eve to see it and telling her it was Santa. A good memory but made me a bit weepy. Pulled myself together tho!!
Made risotto and ham and egg pie from a small ham ( cooked overnight in slow cooker) and still some left. So glad I know how to cook.
The relief of having a garden, albeit a small one. DH is spending almost all day out there, saving his sanity and our marriage!
Happy 🌞 Monday everyone12 -
Morning! I’m doing two posts a day just now to ground me and make me realise I’ve much to be grateful for! Hope you don’t mind! Up early and out with the dog before anyone else around. Stunning sunrise. Deep crimson.Frantic call from DD1. She’s enroute home but her flights have been canceled and changed and she was distraught, so a rather startling way to begin my week. We were both in tears. However she’s on her way and was choosing her movies and waiting for a G&T ( her fathers daughter) as we last spoke before take off. Should have been arriving tomorrow morning but not till Wednesday at the moment. Well she did want an adventure. I just want her here. But I am grateful for technology that keeps us in touch and I can track her flights.Grateful for friends ...can I get you anything? Well hopefully bread and yeast so I can make my own!Have a good day!11
