Hello...just staggered in from work ( of the aching back and pelvis than the drunken variety. )And just like that work is done for the week. Hurrah! Boss asked me yesterday if I miss it when I’m not there? Nah!

A couple of people I knew today so quick chats with them and then another who knew me and I actually didn’t have a clue who she was ...was quite disconcerting. Are you still involved at ***( where I worked 10-14 years ago) nah! I’m kind of here...right in front of you! And in between then I lived in Australia ( but as i had no idea who she was I didn’t feel the need to overshare so avoided the whole awkward ‘ my husband died ‘ conversation.

Excellent tips! I need a bigger jar, it’s kind of overflowing and I’m saving them up for a purpose!

Met a friend at supermarket and stood chatting and that was my downfall as my back seized just standing. So a very painful walk home. But nice to see them.

Though a very peaceful walk home. Was nice and quiet and cold ( we will freeze tonight) but mainly the quiet that I appreciated.

Then DD2 and the dog met me half way and it was no longer quiet:)

Just ordered veggie pizza with a 50% off voucher...I really can’t be jigged cooking having been cooking all day!

    Have a nice evening.

    Good evening all,

First thing - the House Troll woke up with a migraine. That wasn't the pleasure but the two little pink pills that I was able to give him that fixed it was. I'd hate him to suffer like I did when I was his age. He still stayed off school sick but it was nowhere near as bad as it would have been without medication.

Secondly - I took my closest friend for physio. It's good being able to help while he can't drive for himself. We stopped on the way back to do a few other jobs that he needed doing.

Third thing - I bought the HT a cake on the way home. I always get the munchies after a migraine so I thought he's appreciate it. He did.

Then work......we were busy. Very busy so time passes quickly and tips were very good. I like my job. I spent a lot of years as a civil servant so I appreciate being able to show up, do what I'm asked to do then go home. No complications.

Last pleasure ....the local paper printed an article about a posh restaurant not close to where I work but same local council having a fairly bad hygiene rating. The pleasure is being reminded that the place where I work has the highest rating. We all (but especially the people who close up at night) work hard to keep our premises and eqipment clean and hygienic. When you see articles like that it reminds you that the hard work and effort is worth it.

    Pleasures for today (Thursday)

    1) A lie in.

    2) Spoke to the gutter mending man (coming next week now) and the man who mended the chimney is going to come back and see why it is still leaking onto the stove.

    3) House reasonably tidy.

    4) Hens OK.

    5) Went for an eye test. A very young man indeed was the option. He actually said, "Coolio" at one point! No sign of Fuch's corneal dystrophy yet (50% chance of inheriting it). No sign of anything untoward at all!

    6) Had a cup of tea in Sainsbury's caf! (Specsavers is within Sainsburys) and one of the ladies from voting was there! We only see each other a few times a year. Another lady from voting told me about the job vacancy for the new job that bigger son has so I asked lady 1 to let lady 2 know.

    7) Meatballs and spaghetti for tea.

    8) Did over an hour of Welsh Duolingo. What a lot of verbs begin with g!

  • A good nights sleep and waking up feeling human again.

Knee is much less painful, still swollen and feeling 'odd' but the pain management available these days is very effective thank goodness.

We had a mid season chimney sweeping yesterday (at the suggestion of the sweep) to see how we're managing the new stove with its dedicated wood burning hearth and we apparently had 'the right kind of soot' in an acceptable quantity so I think we've cracked it! Have booked him in again in May for an end of season cleaning to set us up for next winter.

I've been investigating some of my vegan recipe books and playing with the ideas and the food is much more interesting than our normal routine meals, I shall continue to experiment!

I'm in the charity shop again this afternoon, I wasn't sure I'd make it because of my knee but I think as long as I have the capacity to sit down (which I do) when I need to I shall be able to be useful, thank goodness!

    Hope the antibiotics help DFV

    Thursday pleasures,

The lovely Monty Don was on breakfast radio, could listen to his voice all day.

We had a couple of Yellow Hammers on the bird feeders, they usually get bullied off by the sparrow squadron so good to see.

A six seed bread flour and the bowl I mix my dough in, came from my DM’s kitchen and holds so many memories.

The smell of the loaf and how cosy it makes my kitchen feel, have given up all other carbs on BSD but bread is stuff of life for sure.

I remembered to listen to 2nd half of radio play.
