    Pleasures today.....

Session with massage therapist today. Aromatherapy, hot stones, scalp massage, a bit of reflexology, all very relaxing and well needed.

Home made veg and bean soup for lunch, just thrown together but surprisingly good.

Seeing little kitten let himself out through the catflap, run around the garden then come back in through the catflap 20 minutes later.

Home made courgette lasagne for dinner, an experiment in low carb cooking which turned out well. Definitely one to make again.

Phone call from son to say his first day in his new job went ok.

    Good evening all,

    Today's five.....

Being able to message my sister. When she first moved to Ireland she didn't even have a phone and we had to write letters. When she did eventually have a phone it cost a stupid amount of money to call her. Twenty seven years on we are in touch daily and should we feel the need, thanks to the book of farce actual talking is free.

The house troll singing again while he was getting ready for school. Not sure how long his good mood will last but I'm enjoying it while it does.

Bacon and egg toastie before work. Today's shift was 11 - 3 so as it stretched across lunch time I did without breakfast and had the toastie mid morning.

Work - we were busy but we were busy with smiley faces and laughter. All of the food that we sell is made on the premises and we have the highest hygiene rating possible from our local council so we work hard but today someone was moved to ask who the most famous person that we have ever met was. Some very funny stories.....

Final one - home to dinner, than afterwards having a hot bath and sitting with my feet up listening to music on youtube whilst working on crochet project number one.

  • Lovely day yesterday, nice visit out with DD1 and Freda who loved all the pretty and shiny things on sale.

Better nights sleep than I anticipated but awake at 4.30 and couldn't get back off again so pretty shattered now.

Baby was amazingly good for me today, no reaction to mum not being there as normal but many smiles and little 'talking' sounds and lots of sleeping.

I learned to interpret what the different crys meant be it, milk, nappy or tired and had a fairly smooth day.

Nice to be home again and warm with the stove lit in the lounge, sadly I've got a very sore knee now (for no reason I can think of) and I am hoping it will be less uncomfortable by tomorrow.
  • 1 DH wanted to pop to C0stco, so I price checked the things we wanted to make sure of the best prices for now and double checked they would be things we need. Returned a pair of work trousers to MandS, I also did other back to work preparations like batch cooking which will at least all come in handy if feeling poorly again.

2 I spent another £6ish or so in the sales, on 5 bags of bulbs, 2 rolls of luxury Christmas paper reduced to 80p, luxury charity wildlife cards 80p and good quality window sticker sheets, something like 84p. There was also a rather unexpected spend for quality motor oil a lot of it, for doing our own car service, but it was just shy of £60 as it takes 2 whole large containers.

3 Drying hung around the house.

4 Researched a couple of books I have been wanting for a few years now, not the sort a kindle would suit, best price was second hand Amazon but I haven’t purchased just yet as I do have a lot yet to read.

5 My competition win arrived today, my Iceland gift card, so chuffed.

    Busy day today.

    Pleasures for today (Wednesday)

    1) Good to get up after a ridiculous sleep. Nodded off just before 5. Alarm went off at 7.30...

    2) HM lemon curd on toast for breakfast.

    3) At former school work place to do invigilation. Everyone very chatty, including the head who I had never really had a long conversation with before!

    4) Hens OK.

    5) Stopped at the tea rooms for a drink and realised a man was sitting at another table with a lady (who had her back to me) and he was one of those men Who Talks Slightly Too Loud. Realised he was a man I had been on one date with last spring. We only really met up because we realised we could see each other's houses from our windows and it's a tiny village! Anyway, he turned out to be mildly racist and to drink through the whole date until he slumped and fell off his chair. Then he just sat on the floor.

Anyway, I had to walk out through the tea room and Mr Slightly Too Loud Very Important Voice was still talking to his date. He suddenly realised who I was and looked very startled and stopped talking. He received a direct stare then I walked out, giving a little snigger as I went through the door!

    6) Cracked on with paperwork, emails going backwards and forwards from college, school and child psych person ready for smaller son's new assessment next week. I have no idea how he is supposed to retake GCSEs in May/June when they haven't even assessed him yet, let alone sorted an online course/tutor out!

    7) Phoned about Thomas Cook holiday a few times (have been working on this for about 3 months) and FINALLY we will have a refund in due course.

    8) Bigger son phoned and has survived his child protection training, despite feeling ill because of it. Also intrigued the archery trainer by shooting left handed and looking through his left eye, despite being right handed. They checked him and his right eye is dominant (he shoots right handed but plays dart left handed).

Smaller son is right handed but left eye dominant and shoots and play pool left handed. My brother is pretty much the same. This is not a good thing. My brother has dyspraxia and smaller son is autistic.

    9) Booked someone in to look at the leaking gutters tomorrow.

    10) Been reading the first of 20 books for 2020 although I realise I have read it before, many years ago.

    Evening all :)

    Five pleasures for today:

    1. First cuppa of the day after a not brilliant night's sleep.

    2. Veggie lasagne for tea.

    3. Really lovely conversations with best and oldest friend on phone throughout the day.

    4. Lovely librarians in my home village rang to say that they are waiving my not-insignificant library fines because I can't get the books back to them at the moment.:T

    5. Sorted through DM's stash of bedlinen and have found several matching sets that will come in very useful and have sorted the rest for eventually taking to CS when she gives me permission.

    Sweet dreams :)
