oh lore it's 5 to 1 in the morning. just had the sad news my fave uncle died. yet he lived to a ripe old age and enjoyed many things. so i certainly won't be sad. your son going so young is very unfair dfv
here are my 5 pleasures for the day:
    1) one of my ex students got the prestigious MILES award (mentoring, innovation and leadership in education scholarship) at the opening ceremony
    2) there was also a chinese dragon at the opening ceremony
    3) talk went well (though room was freezing due to over-zealous air condititioning). the pleasure was in the thawing out
    4) 20 widths of the swimming pool in the rain (when i say widths is sorta square - i decided 20 was a good number for each day)
    5) lovely evening meal with a current student and her husband at a restaurant right next to the river.

    Pleasures today....

Leisurely lie in with lemon and ginger tea,

Walk with dog in brilliant sunshine, frost on the grass in the park.

    Time out at the hairdressers.

Posted off parcel of books to Ziffit, the result of a decluttering session.

Fixing up fairy lights in the dining room, it makes the place so bright and pretty.

    Home made soup for lunch.

Turning milk that's past it's use by date into a batch of fresh yoghurt for healthy breakfasts.

A relaxing evening ahead, if nothing decent on TV I might continue watching The Crown on Netflix.
One life - your life - live it!

    Good evening all,

Todays first thing was dropping the House Troll at school, nipping to the shop for bread and eggs and still managing to be back home before 9am.

Second was blatently ignoring the housework and sitting with crochet project number one instead. I'm still getting over the cold that Christmas gave me so my sinuses were a bit sore and self care seemed like a good plan.

Bacon and egg toastie before work as working through lunch time then left 10 minutes earlier than usual and posted friend's sick note for him. Good to be able to do something useful that he can't do for himself.

Work - I'd say 95% of our customers are an absolute pleasure to deal with. We have a lot of elderly people that have their lunch at our cafe and they really do start to feel like extra family after a while.

Last one - we called to see the widow of my dad's cousin with her Christmas present. Her brother is very fragile so I didn't want to run the risk of passing any germs on while I was poorly but I did let her know why we were going to be late with her present. It was lovely to see her and have a little catch up.

Sorry about your uncle DundeeDoll. Even though he had a life well lived it's still hard when people that you love aren't around for a chat any more.

Hello. Tis wild and wet and very windy.

What a day! That involved phone calls and emails and more phone calls and emails to do with the car. Upshot is that it’s away to get fixed and she should get it back mid week. At no cost to us. Grateful to friends in the know who helped me out with key words and legalities!

Tidied up (ish) in between the calls and emails.

So had to walk to work as DD was working ( same place as me) I was going to take car to garage but ended up she did and I worked her last 90 minutes! She also took my jacket as she had to get bus back up from town.

Then I had to go to my mothers ( as I’d said I would) and by this time it was lightly raining, when I left it was heavier so borrowed a jacket.

Then boss sent me a photo of new stock , I offered to help with visual merchandising...she said she couldn’t pay me I said a cake and a can would be enough and have had a lovely evening! By this time it was horrendous weather!

Home to a roaring fire and a dog happy to see me!

Sorry to hear about your uncle, DD.

    Pleasures for today (Friday).

    1) A lie in.

    2) Hens OK.

    3) Went to nearest town to have a cup of tea and there was Tom Watson - again! He said hello! As I got in my car later on, he was behind me on his bike too. There is no avoiding him!

    4) Got a few books from the charity shop.

    5) Smaller son and I had a tidy downstairs - cleaned and watered the orchids, washing up, tidying, cleaned the kitchen windows, he hoovered then steamed the floors.

    6) Chips from the van for tea.

    7) My brother popped round for board games then to watch smaller son play Football Manager.

    8) Smaller son and I managed to swap his computer's GPU for a better one, without breaking anything!

    9) Bigger son has had a good day, learning how to use the high ropes course.

For the last couple of days.

    1. Chat with someone at the bus stop who I hadn't seen since before Christmas.

    2. House is tidy. It took a while yesterday as things all out away where they should be. It looks so much better.

    3. Sun out though cold but enjoyed the brightness especially when cleaning out the chickens.

    4. Made a roast chicken and enjoyed it.

    5. DH brought more bricks back from MIL house. I didn't need to go.

    6. Received a £20 gift card and a share dividend in the post. Money has gone into savings for when a new shower is needed which I think will be soon.
