Evening everyone,
Big virtual hugs to all those that need them, in particular DFV and SuffolkSue, you are incredible woman and your strength of character really shines through in your posts.
Pleasures for today.
1. Yet another lie in, time off of work seems to be turning me into a lazy mare.
2. Went shopping, stuck to the list and managed to avert my eyes from the sale rails in MandS, 60% off was really tempting but I really don’t need anything.
3. HM lasagne with side salad for dinner, one of my faves.
4. Neighbour returned from holiday bringing gifts of wine...hiding them until dry January is out of the way.
5. Movie night with Mr.M and DD3 now that the football has finishedWell Behaved women seldom make history
Early retirement goal... 2026

DfV the written thank you letters finished me off .
We have had a quiet day ,DH has been v withdrawn but hasn’t cried like he usually does .Glad really as it affects his breathing badly ,but it does seem strange .
DDs children came to see us ,they were 7 and 5 when she died now 16 and 14 ,she’s missed so much .
DfV its good to chuckle and remember,
Remember time for you to grieve too .l was so tiied up with the practicalities of caring for young children that I pushed it down ( DH and DSIL both fell apart ,but the children still needed feeding etc)
Sorry that’s turn into a me,me but what I’m trying to say is that there isn’t a right and wrong way .
Much love

Absolutely right, SuffolkSue, there is no official rule book on how to grieve, you just have to do what comes naturally to you.One life - your life - live it!0

Just coming out of lurkdom to send hugs and thoughts to both Dig For Victory and Suffolk Sue. There is absolutely nothing I can say that will help in any way but please know that I am thinking of you both.0

I have been around MSE forums for 10 years but haven't been on the site for a couple of years. I had a very bad year 2019 so need a new start. I am a big you tube watcher especially self help style vlogs. One was about meditation and recommended daily listing of reasons for being grateful and that reminded me of this thread on this site. Found my old password and yesterday started posting. Although I am new poster here this time round I didn't want to read and run so just to say my thoughts and condolences are with DfV and all missing loved ones.
My 5 for today.

Hope you are as OK as possible, SuffolkSue.
Pleasures for today (Saturday)
1) A lie in after a rubbish sleep.
2) Hens OK.
3) Went to watch the football with smaller son. We had to laugh at the start! The lad who wasn't nice to him at high school has got a lovely voluntary job doing the photographs for the team's online accounts. During the matches, other lad struts around, putting the camera in various places. He and smaller son glare at each other if they happen to pass.
Once the players go off after their warm up, he sort of kneels/crouches on the ground so he can get a shot of them coming on to the pitch through the tunnel.
So he's scrunched up on the ground and the groundsmen are doing whatever they do with the sprinklers and one of them very gently kicks a stray ball off the pitch. It pootles along slowly - then hits nemesis boy right up the bum, making him leap in the air with surprise!
4) Fire lit and a nice HM curry for tea. Korma this time and I was told to pick up coconut flour on my way home. I made lemon little pie things in ramekins with HM lemon curd, plus custard.
5) Watched Casualty.0 -
DfV, what an amazing support network, your elaborate ploy did make me smile.
1 DH and I watched the sound of music for the very first time ever, I’m almost shocked to say.
2 Popped out for the first time since festivities, to the shops, the only thing I got on sale were 4 packs of bulbs for 50p.
3 We have had a rescue fuzz in who has never encountered a human, but is trying hard, using litter pads and is curious about us, but we have also been made aware of 2 more and we are talking about it but not sure at the moment.
4 We had a Costco pizza for tea.
5 All the decorations are down and back in the loft, the house is hoovered up, and various wash loads on.0 -
Saturday pleasures,
A lie-in followed by boiled egg & soldiers for brekkie.
Visit to the beautiful grey one, our stable yard is quite sheltered and with the sun out pleasant enough so took her rug off and gave her a good groom, she dozed in the sun and pointed out any itchy bits her human slave managed to miss.
Enjoyed listening to the best of the News quiz on drive home.
Caught up on a bit of washing and made a loaf of bread.
Pottered a bit in the garden and smiled to see green shoots in my spring pots.
Downloaded first episode of Scandi drama Wisting, quickly become enthralled and watched another, followed by Mary Beard’s interview with Clive James.0 -
Good Morning Lovelies,
Yesterday
1. Bacon and cheese croissants for breakfast.
2. Trees down and ornaments away. ( Garlands down the stairs left to do today).
3. Managed an hour in the garden clearing a space for raised beds. Managed to clear about 1/4 of the area.
4. 99p McDonalds for tea from an offer on the App. All down to McD's , but then realised that we did not all need to go :rotfl: Next time we will send DH to collect.
5. Dropped DD at her friends house, continued on to drop EBay parcels at the Coop and found some reduced items :j
6. Dracula and quilting.
Have a lovely day0 -
Thoughts and hugs with both DforV and Suffolksue
1. Met a friend for coffee in a local garden centre. Good coffee and chat.
I also found my earring which I had lost while walking round.
Staff at the garden centre were very helpful.
2. DS1 helped to take down the Christmas decorations so the house looks bare.
3. When putting decorations away I took the opportunity to remove some of the rubbish/unwanted stuff up there.
4. Some washing mostly dried outside.
5. Quiet evening in after DH returned from a work party and enjoyed a glass of wine.0
