Again - and still - as MrsLW wrote, thoughts dominated by the loss and shock reactions and rememberings written by everyone posting here.
And Suffolk Sue, double for you right now - strength to you and OH, with extras FOR you with OH.

Much on all our minds, I'm thinking, plus Australia for many of us. Still no replies, have fire map updates on constantly....every sort of praying on max. right now, also after White House psychopaths's latest re-election/Impeachment displacement lunacy.

Morning. I was half way through a post and battery ran out...I’m supposed to be tidying...however I shall procrastinate a tad longer to offer hugs to those who need them today particularly.

Sue some days are easier than others and some days are just plain old hard. Probably today is one of those harder ones. And when all we have left is memories of someone it’s important to hang on tight to them.

DFV well just surrounding you with love and hugs and virtual cups of tea and virtual lasagnes and virtual bunches of flowers ( though not white lilies) . Friendship comes in all sorts of different forms so know that although we can’t just pop in and see you we are all here for you. We will listen. We will cry with you. We will laugh with you. And yes you will still laugh as I’m sure your boy would want you to.

Ampersand the situation in Australia is just dire. The Australian Defence Force are now properly involved and I truly hope ( and I think it will) make a huge difference.

I’d a good chat with DD1 this morning. She’s okay. Sky a bit hazy where she is but not as bad as it was. Her housemate was one of the last ones to be evacuated out by road at Mallacoota ( where people were in the sea as inferno all around) he said it was raining ash and embers around them. But he’s home safe. We’d a good moan about the prime minister, about the US air strike , chatted about Greta Thunberg changing her name to Sharon, about my trip to asda with the mother ( laughing by this time) . I admire her independence and her values...DD1 not so much the mother!

So we all just have to keep on doing what we are doing, look to the good. Some days harder than others but it’s still there. Keep smiling. Keep looking forward. Just keep on at keeping on.

Right! Washing machine is beeping at me telling me it’s finished...next load to go on is spare room sheets!

DforV - whatever you are doing, you are doing what is right for you... laughing is good, I find.. I remember sat around dad in his final hours and I said something stupid that made us all laugh, just as a nurse walked in. Which of course made us laugh more. I like to think one of the last things he heard was us laughing... Have to say the 'thank you' letters choked me up...

Suffolk Sue - so difficult. please know we are thinking of you.

But pleasures must always be found so here's mine for yesterday

    1. finished a chapter for editing AGAIN!! I am so sick, so very sick, of all this. I am back from my suspended studies (not that they were ever actually suspended) and I will take no further extension (barring disasters). At the end of April it will be a case of 'publish and be damned' because it is making me ill.
    2. Lentil shepherd's pie from the freezer for tea. Because -
    3. Didn't go shopping - again
    4. Took the tree down - lounge looks bigger...:D
    5. Watched TOTP from 1989 with DS, laughing at how dreadful the music was.

    Have a good day all
I wanna be in the room where it happens

vjsmum this is the worst bit. DS is up till 3 every morning working on his - hoping he is very nearly done cos he starts his job 13th Jan.
An early 5 from me cos i must put the washing on, dye my hair, finish my talk and pack. Strange having xoh back in the house.
    1) Worcester engineer arrived as he said he would. He was super, and yes the £275 call out charge was a bit eye-watering but, true to their word, that included all parts and labour having ascertained it was indeed flxable. Fix is guarantted for 12 months and I will now get regular servicing!!!
    2) did i tell you about the discarded dyson i found next to the bin yesterday? well the bit i retrieved was exactly the bit i needed for my broken dyson. xoh has put it back together for me (i'm not gifted in that skill and she is)
    3) xoh found my watch - it was down the back of the sofa.
    4) she also found the knob that's been missing from the floor lamp which i've now got behind the piano stool.
    5) Absolute 70s is playing Roxy Music. 'Heart to heart as we hit the floor Lumber up, limbo down'
may see ya before i go, may see ya from singapore, may be awol till i get back. till then :heartpuls:heartpuls:heartpuls

  • To cheer you all up we had a wonderous day as the Oreo child was 3 last week and this weekend we were invited to his birthday party. So much fun ought to be illegal but DD2 and Hubby know some really lovely people and they have some delightful small children with whom it was a real pleasure to spend a few hours. We made coffee for the hoards, washed up, made sandwiches and chopped fruit, had the baby in the sling for a couple of hours while he was asleep, played games and was appointed as an honorary penguin while we played at being at the seaside (I don't understand either but it's a nice thing to be a penguin) played at being a customer in a caf! while they all cooked with the play food and took the play money and generally fun was had all round! One of the nicest days we've had for a while and I am still smiling! xxx.

Mrs LW that sounds like a lovely day Lyn. And how can he be three already? That was quick.

A day of catching up in house. Bathrooms cleaned. Clothes airer moved back out my room and into spare room. Bed in there stripped. Downstairs hoovered.

SIL messaged, are you in? We were! Lovely to see them.

Catching up on first series of Bancroft. I did watch it but can’t remember how it went and didn’t know if it was relevant for second series.

Made stuffed peppers for tea. Please send me veggie suggestions!
Stuffed with rice, hidden sprouts (ha...so much for only me liking them) mushrooms, peppers, onion, courgette. Bit of garlic. Cooked in oven then a sprinkle of Parmesan for last five minutes. Served with salad leaves and grated carrots and cucumber. And little roastie parsnips. And an ‘I’ve been lurking in the freezer for probably a year’ naan bread. Was all rather tasty! Followed by surely the last mince pie?

And friend just called to say can she pop in! Of course!

    Have a nice night x
  • DforV. My thoughts and prayers are with you and the family. I'm so glad that you aren't on your own and you have each other for support. Sending hugs to all who are in need of them.
