Bless you all. Here, by pm, just by being part of this I am so, so upheld even as sometimes a kindly message leaves himself doubled over and howling. Me too, but I see things different.

The lurgy has (had - he’s beyond noticing at the moment) migrated to Himself. Who is refusing my cure for all, a nice cup of tea. I think he finished the icecream yesterday too. He’s not cooking on consequence but is on for “anything that needs doing”. Eh?

Springsteen (live through youtube), just having fun as only a good musician & band can, playing You Never Can Tell. It’s joyful! [Enjit the music & the irony?]

Lads enjoying a firework post-mortem [oh gids] & it is thought a pub must have spent thousands. Fond recollection of a Malcolm in the Middle episode (children’s TV) where they mixed night filming with a midday daylight shot to emphasise the ooomph of one bang.

I see I have L & R on my socks & that they are on the right feet. This morning that feels like an accomplishment.

Blimey. Seems we’re in a hotspot for losing siblings: a fellow scout leader, one of the survivor's schoolmates, even the padre. At this time of year too, when you want your family close but it doesn’t quite work as you thought. Billie Lourd, Carrie Fisher’s daughter, turns out to have been prescient in her reminder it’s not all candy canes & carols.

It's a bit over 24 hours. Lifespan twenty years but epilepsy won. I can't count the numbers of messages of support & sympathy without drizzling & anyway not tracking the notes tucked through the door, the scout Facebook & whatsapp feeds, let alone all of you amazing lot. No disrespect BoP, but we are in the presence of a lot of very strong women who faced down a lot & survived. I toddle in their wake and am so grateful.

Even at the darkest times DFV your humour and love for life shines through, my thoughts are with you friend xx

    Thursday pleasures,

Out to emporium as my refusal to step foot into any shops over the festive period no longer cut the mustard, mercifully quiet and picked up some bargains including some of the biggest red peppers I had ever seen.

Found the perfect calendar, rtc in village garden centre, so the pleasure of sitting down with old one and moving everything over.

Girlie was already in by the time I got over to the yard so box groom and the smell of fresh straw.

Chat with my yard pal and the plans we both have for the coming year.

Peppers prepped and roasted whilst tea was cooking, will use some for a soup today.

Frith as I share my life with a proud Lancastrian that shirt sounds pretty perfect, great bargains.

    4. Enchiladas and fixings for tea.

Such beautiful words, DforV - and such kindness to all in the depths of your grief. But BoP has Bopsie, so i'm guessing he knows all about strong women :p

Good move on the radar key, Frith...

    Pleasures for yesterday

    1. a house to myself and a day to get on and get on I did
    2. Still not going food shopping - and making do. This is also the plan for today.
    3. Smoked salmon and scrambled eggs for brekkie - the last of the Christmas stores (apart from never ending cheese). Cheese for lunch :rotfl:
    4. Wagamamas with my girlie who had lovely time on her 'little holiday' with her friend. We had a lovely chat about her career and the new girlfriend. I thought she didn't seem 'loved up' enough and I was right - but it's more to do with DD's mental state than the girl herself, though I think the latter is pushing DD along a bit quicker than she'd like.
    5. THe King and I at the theatre - how beautiful it was. Spoiled only a little by incessant coughers and the infernal, continuous unwrapping of sweets - can't people go 3 hours without eating sweets?
    6. (from the bank) the car being at the station when we got back at 11.30. It was £6 to park the car, or I'd have spent £6 on a glass of wine if I hadn't had the car - made the right call.:T

Have a lovely day all - peace and love DforV xx

    Anyone else need one?

Was inn the Gym last eve trimming off the excess from the pudding of xmas. Bit short but you can see the difference already as BoP gets back to the beach ready body you all know he has!

Then had home hot dogs and cocoa.

Went too work on an egg this very morning. Raffles, king of the struts, was wandering his yard this morn as we left the palais of BoP, across the top of the fence to neighbores restaurant! He is a snake! We pay his veterinary bills!

Now back at the mill and no yous has to weight until next weak to find the delights of his lunch box!
As muted last day, BoP is appearing at JAM tomorrow morning.

    The lion is slept

  • DforV am not always good with words but I will try.

Am new on these boards, only a few months in but already have an inkling of characters and how people feel about them.

It is a testament to your kindness and loveliness that there is a collective beating heart here, feeling sorrow love and empathy for you. I feel part of that heart and through that I send you my love.

Dear DfV and family - full of umpty mistakes as I am, &'s reaching t'internet Norf'ards and being blutty wraparound nuisance anyway. How not to?
Also, because that is the nature of this thread, to Suffolk Sue, Fortune Favour, Nargleblast and Dianne, who wrote of being a year further along this path.....
Balaboorlies - yes, you are Bb for this thread:-) - have just seen your heart here, too.

    1. Thanks to Frith, who msgd me at Spitalfields, early evening, had just started packing.

    2. Safe drive back, bed by 2am. Grateful that there will be some banking after this, before tutoring.

    3. Lovely renewed/re-met greetings+exchanges with fellows and friends who come by every week, especially including the goodness+generous kindness of M, who unfailingly includes me in his market family and has done, from Day1, when many still wish to be.

4 The internet - for all of us here, for enabling communication with family and friends globally(still can't reach Australia, also thinking of you+your dd, mhags); for msg from Spain that friend is already home post-op; for making donations+spreading the word re:causes. Focus on the good - so much of which on this Thread has been via YOUR cram-packed, diverse, all-competences, attentive, busy, observant, family-loving, tailor-waving journals of CONTINUING LIFE.....dear DfV. Thankyou.

    5. Having choices and being able to make them, however small.
