Hello. Cold and wet outside. Was very frosty first thing.

Was up with dog just after 5am . Let him out, fed him ...then walked into the extension and saw the explosion of vomit everywhere! Four separate piles ...one at each corner of my rug! All over the floor! Did not know where to even begin! Anyway had to be dealt with but not how I wanted to start my day!

Went into town with DD2. She drove. She’s actually an okay driver but I’m such a bad passenger! Constantly saying watch out!

Bought a pair of jeans for £2 in charity shop. And went to M&S for a few bits. Got some eucalyptus from the florist just to have a bit of Australia for Christmas . Have mixed it in with my foraged ivy.

Met an old colleague who I’ve not seen in at least 15 years! Nice to chat.

Home. Have been tidying and pottering all afternoon . Moved sofas round in extension . One is slightly shorter than the other so it’s now at a jaunty angle and further away from fire so should let more heat out!

I’m officially rubbish at firelighting. The glass door was murder to clean as it was so thick with soot. Took ages to clean. Sigh! Handy hints welcome! I know last night I hadn’t let the kindling get to a hot enough heat to burn wood properly...(cos my son told me so!)

Changing photos in frames. Had ordered free prints so they came the other day. Didn’t have any actual prints of the baby.

Washed the inside windows/doors. And hoovered and washed floors again.

Work tomorrow ( but just one day only I can do it!)
  • 1 We went to the next town on Charity Shops, we stumbled across a set of 10 giles books, not in great condition but right for FIL just as a thought of you gift.

2 We picked up various bits and bobs a lot of bird food, and stopped for lunch at a caf.

3 Stopped in at Aldee, picked up the potatoes etc for 15p each, with fruit and veg.

4 Stopped in at garden centre, but left with purse strings firmly in place.

    5 Nice to be home.

Mhags - a bit of ash on some scrunched up newspaper will clean the glass. Sounds like it’s not getting hot enough or the wood isn’t completely dry.

DD tomorrow is another day :)

Frith I hadn’t let the kindling burn hot enough apparently! However the glass was thick black stuff that needed much scrubbing! Have already used the ash tip...wasn’t cutting it this time ! I have other skills...just not fires!

We had the most lovely BLT for tea with Rtc ciabatta from M &S and Rtc salad leaves and leftover Rtc bacon and I made coleslaw too, very yummy and filling.

    Pleasures for today (Wednesday).

    1) A lie in!

    2) No car yet (since Sunday) so that is saving me money for petrol! Also means we haven't been able to leave the village for 5 days...

    3) Hens OK.

    4) Had a tidy, brought logs in, did washing, cleaned windows on the outside.

    5) Made another batch of lemon curd.

    6) Nice messages from bigger son in Cyprus and a film of him jumping off a small cliff into the sea. They're hiring quad bikes tomorrow and going on a guided tour.

    Wednesday pleasures,

A bit of wintry sunshine, so welcome after days of grey.

Talking of grey, over at the yard and time spent with my mare, everything is so wet and waterlogged so decided her winter break starts now. Spent ages getting rid of all her itchy bits and then grazed her in hand for a while.

Home for a quick lunch and dog walk then drove into Uni City for a haircut, left early to allow for traffic but no worse than normal so got to read for a bit whilst waiting for person before me to finish.

A HM mince pie with my cup of tea.

DB and DN came for tea, made macaroni cheese as always a crowd pleaser.

They left just before 9 so we watched the Puissance at Olympia, clever agile horses jumping over 7ft!
  • Must be the end of the year show, more later.

Cloth has gone up norff to the shirt maker. Money is inn the bank, not my bank, but millwrights, it will make it to mine otherwise I is offski!

Usual lunch box today with added cakes of Jaff to go with the broken proper digestive.

Was inn gym last night, needed it as a bit of puppy fat has appeared on my not so beached body!

If yous wants slimming advice for the new year, all yous has to do is pm BoP and the response will be …

Bit short of the Lunch Bites today!

You can see more when yous on the roof!

    Hello.

A day of much work but hey it’s all done till next week! Was very busy from the start. Alright tips.

Delivery of logs ( apparently delivery chap was very handsome!) just need to transfer them...unfortunately it’s just started raining so we are going to get a tad wet! Going from front to back and round the corner...bag currently wearing my cagoule!

    Had fajitas for tea.

Window cleaners were here today too...just as well I cleaned the insides yesterday!

DD1 sent me a photo...she’s made herself a stocking. I was feeling quite sad the other night that she won’t be hanging her stocking here this year and because she’s going world travelling from March and her stuff will go into storage she didn’t take her own special stocking. Anyway she’s made her own and I hope she pops her gifts from me into it!

Feeling rather emotional today about the time of year and being without my husband and the kids without their dad. Even walking round supermarket after work and hearing the music playing and I could just have burst into tears! But I didn’t.

Right...we are off into the rain to get these logs away! Currently blocking the driveway and right in front of the garage!

    Pleasures for today (Thursday).

    1) A lie in.

    2) Hens OK.

    3) Car has been mended! They pointed out the cords sticking out of the tyre so had to have a new tyre on that corner as well. Now penniless again. Card declined in Sainsburys afterwards.

    4) Wrapped the stocking fillers.

    5) Watched an unexpected episode of Holby City.

    6) Bigger son had a good time on his quad bike trek this morning. He'll be back in the UK tomorrow.
