i feel everyone at work is very tired and stressed at the moment, and several of us are limping to the finishing line. but much good today
1) was still at home when the dog walker arrived. he and his partner had no success with IVF then she got pregnant naturally. this week is his first week back after the arrival of their daughter
2) lovely meeting with phd student who is doing excellent work. we spent 45 minutes on supervision then 45 minutes on general chatter - he's from Pakistan and was asking about Christmas traditions
3) then lovely shared lunch with colleagues in the medical school - one of them did a fantastic emoji christmas song quiz which she has sent to me so i can use with the family christmas day
4) after a loooooong afternoon (where i got a thumbs up from one of the associate deans) caught the bus down to the chinese to meet DD1 & 2 - i treated them to Chinese
5) then a friend came round with wine for the band members from a ceilidh we did for his church. had a great catch up over a cup of tea
6) then mum arrived and the girls gave the dogs a bath. they are currently drying in front of the gas fire and i am in my onesie for the 3rd night running. night all xMrsSD declutter medals 2023 🏅🏅🏅⭐⭐ 2025

Thursday pleasures,
Use up bacon on toast for breakfast, small dog got her share.
Stopped procrastinating and did a bundle of chores.
Drove over to see DSIL, she has a new dog, a little rescued JR who is a real cutie. I didn’t take small dog to meet her as still settling in but plans made for a play date.
Popped in to see eldest DN at her salon and then walked up to pub to meet youngest DN, that’s all three nieces in 24 hours, smashing.
The drive home was awful, heavy spray from lots of lorries so very glad to get home.0 -
Hello. Rain has just started. I quite like the sound on the roof. Sat innthe extension with the fire a-blazing! ( I did not light it!) new logs burning well.
Rubbish sleep. Awake from 4am.
Loud knock at the door at exactly 7.01am...postie with a parcel. You’re a bit early!
Companion set for the fire...had to build it myself!
Went to supermarket. Was making a couple of hampers so just to get some bits and bobs for them. Took flowers down to my dog walking friend . Her old girl passed away peacefully. Met a lady I know on way out of shop...you look so well she said...you’re face is so shiny! Hmmm...strange compliment!
Came home and sorted out all gifts, I ain’t getting much more. Will make some foody ones .
Hoovered .
Enjoyed mince pies ( Rtc M & S ones)
Being all cosy. Lovely.
Nice chat with niece on phone.0 -
I made it to Friday hooray.
1) really needed some self-care today so started the day with a lovely and very bubbly bath
2) tied up some loose ends at work. not enough but, as my favourite prayer says, What has been done has been done; what has not been done has not been done; let it be.
3) met DD2 after work. cards now all posted, a much needed cuppa and chat then a few more pressies bought
4) DS's GF has asked for stories about DS for Christmas (sweet eh?). DD2 and I have drawn up 42 questions about his life so far. We had such a laugh reminiscing on the crazier happenings. she's now going to make them into a set of cards, some with bonus questions
5) dd2 had lo chinese for supper, i had cheese and tomato on toast - comfort food at its best :P and now i'm in bed watching HIGNFY. Night all xMrsSD declutter medals 2023 🏅🏅🏅⭐⭐ 2025

DD - what did you think of HIGNFY this evening? I've watched it since childhood but it seemed very scripted and strained this time.
Pleasures for today (Friday).
1) A lie in.
2) Got some jobs done round the house (torrential rain all day - again!) Hoovered and steamed floors, cleaned the stairs, all washing done etc.
3) Hens OK.
4) Went to the farm shop in the village with my sister. Pneumonia slacking off but very strained tummy muscles from coughing and also reflux from all the tablets.
5) Smaller son's favourite tea - salmon baked in the oven then flaked into pasta, with mayo and peas!
6) Thought I would use up the dark green wool so did some crochet and made 9 more little wreaths.
7) Took a wreath and some lemon curd to my uphill neighbour and she gave me some strawberry jam in return. Compared leaking chimneys. Always interesting to look round her cottage, which is 2 knocked together. (Still small, though!)
8) Lovely hand made card from my cousin. He only started sending Christmas cards when he got married so I wonder if his wife is making them! She is Japanese so perhaps good at papercraft?
9) Bigger son returned! He would recommend Cyprus but now realises how much holidays cost (once you get there!) He liked quad biking and playing pool with some people from Iraq and also Nepal (so he could chat to them about his time there). His Nepal sun tan was fading but he is now very brown again.
10) Watched the Last Leg so will go to bed with my hwb now and watch Gogglebox from there.0 -
hello everyone
well low and behold, luck came in again. Walked into charity shop and bought what I can only describe as a vintage wool coat. Single breasted, V necked but the collar is a very curly, wavy fur type thing. Reminds me off a cat I once saw. Think 1950's/60's. 12 pounds. A bargain as it is so well made.
Tiggy and battle with her eye problem is still ongoing so am cooking for her without any rice. Want to see if she has developed allergy. She loved my rtc beef strips with mashed cauliflower and broccolli. She chases bowl around the kitchen if she approves. Then she jumps all over me as if to say 'you got it right !'
'Lainey, now have my copy of Black Beauty. Can't wait.
Have a wonderful day, one and all.AKA : Bala La Boo & Bala Baloo

Sorry again for not posting
Frith ive thought that about nearly all this series of HIGNFY
Belated pleasures (forgive me if I’ve already said some of these
1 visit by hospice nurse ,she remembered DD and came to her funeral ,lovely person
2 the kindness of all our professional visitors
4 washing machines and tumble dryers ,I know not good for the environment, but there have been a lot of bed changes this week .
4 Christmas trees and lights .DGS14 and I went shopping ,he put up the outside lights ,selected the tree he wanted ,if he could have worked out where to plug it in I’d have had a 6 ft reindeer too!
5 Shopping just about done ,the most disjointed Christmas ever
Things are getting harder every time I think they can’t get worse they do

It’s a testament that you still keep recording pleasures Sue x
Friday pleasures,
More rain, oh joy but put the festive lights on and played my music all morning to lift mood.
Made sesame rolls for lunch so the lovely smell of bread baking.
Over to see my girlie, she was already in but had obviously rolled her face in the mud as wet earth was clinging to everything even her eyelashes :rotfl: dried her off as best I could and left her to munch on hay.
Capt S home and that’s him finished now until Jan 6th as he had a lot of holiday to use up.
Not exactly a pleasure but this winter weather has made my psoriasis flare up, did remember to apply lavender oil which calmed down the itchy bits.0 -
Thinking of you Sue.

Broke up from work yesterday and have 2 whole weeks off, I'm really looking forward to the break this year and turned off the morning alarm on my phone with perhaps the smugest face ever.
Not really sure if some of these are pleasures but they are getting ticked of my to do list and making me feel organised which is a pleasure.
1. Spare bedroom cleaned and bedding changed ready for Christmas visitors. DD's bedding changed and she cleaned her room and both laundry baskets currently empty.....yes! Shall change my Bed linen tomorrow and do the ironing. It is starting to feel like I'm running a laundry business at the minute though.
2. Most of the shopping done for Christmas now, just a few bits to collect on Monday....the annual fridge and freezer Jenga has begun
3. Quick and easy pizza's for tea, so not much cooking or washing up to do.
4. Well earned bottle of wine is chilling in the fridge, to be enjoyed later when me and Mr. M are watching a movie.
5. Next years motivational planner has arrived and I'm resisting starting it yet, I am saving that pleasure for tomorrow afternoon when I can really savour the moment.....yes, I am a stationery nerd, and have been since I was a little girl.:DWell Behaved women seldom make history
Early retirement goal... 2026
