    Hello.

Been a bit of a busy day.

    A DD2 poorly with gastro . Blah!

Ghastly weather. Has poured and blown with wind.

Was supposed to be taking mum to supermarket but was too wild so had to get her list and go for her and drop off ( which was easier than getting her in out, in out ...shake it all about)

Popped in to work to drop off gifts and pick up gifts. DD2 should have been at work to do this.

Had to go down to country park to pick up mums gift...just drive right in said the chap...so there was I driving up the castle driveway and on the narrow bridge over the river...a first for me! ( normally public not allowed)

Then had to drop off something else at work and go back into supermarket!

Then home! Sigh! Delivery next door of beautiful flowers from my SIL from my favourite florist. Quick chat with neighbour.

Then get ready for lunch as friend and her poorly daughter were coming here...seriously not liking the germs surrounding me at the moment!

We had salad and lasagne and nice bread and pate .

Nice chatter for most of afternoon. friends daughter lay on sofa in another room than we were in!

Then a quick tidy up and sigh...how lovely is peace and quiet. Then chatted to sister. Brought her up to date with the mother situation. And had a moan about the brother situation.

Then OH friend popped in with his dog. So it’s been a bit noisy with two dogs ...My dog gets a bit barky in a ‘I’m talking to you ‘ kind of way! So we spent an hour going ‘SSSSSHHH!

Looking forward to an evening of soaps then bed as I’m in at work in morning. ( not my usual day)

I like the 20/20 thread but I can't bend my resolutions to fit! I need to lose more than 20lbs, but not quite 40lbs. I want to pay more mortgage off but couldn't commit to say £200 per month. I suppose I could think of 20 resolutions or schemes that don't actually have the number 20 in them...

Pleasures for today (Monday, though feels like a Friday!)

    1) A lie in, accidentally.

    2) NOT RAINING!!!!!!

    3) Housework done - washing up, washing, washing away, dusting, tidying, downstairs hoovered, stairs cleaned, bathroom cleaned...

    4) My school friend came round for lunch - part baked rolls then she had brought some of her birthday cake with her!

    5) Bigger son went out during the day and came back bearing goose fat as he has big ideas for the Christmas lunch. (He cooked quite a lot of it last year).

    6) Bigger son then went to games night with my brother and brother in law.

    Good Morning Peeps,

I can see you all on the 20 20 thread :rotfl: I would like to join, but I have struggled to keep up with 5OSP this last term, so don't want to put too much pressure on myself. Although, 20 lesson plans in preparation for OFSTED might be sensible :rotfl:

    Yesterday

    1. Wrapped presents......and it wasn't even Christmas Eve! :D

    2. Cut some greenery for table decorations.

3.TKMAXX to buy last minute posh underpants for boys Xmas stockings.......wandered into the kitchen aisles, then stroked the furniture, but managed to stay away from the stationery :rotfl:

    4. Washed all the table linen and most of the best crockery in preparation for Christmas Day.

    5. Watched Escape to the Chateau Christmas and Lucy Worsley's Tudor Christmas programme and Chatsworth at Christmas.

DD had a shift working in the bar at a theatre. She came home much more positive than usual. She may apply for a job there......I wish something nice would happen for her.:(

Have a lovely Christmas Eve :)

    Morning all

Took a break from the internet over the last few weeks as I was feeling stressed from information overload. Thought I'd pop by today to wish everyone a merry Christmas and best wishes for a healthy and wealthy 2020.

It's not been a great year for me, but I can see light at the end of the tunnel and am looking forward with a new sense of optimism to 2020. It's the start of a new decade, and somehow that fill me full of hope.

A few pleasures over the last few weeks:
    • Meeting up with friends and relatives every weekend for lunch (I may never eat out again though)
    • Getting the food shopping done early and in the freezer so no last minute frenzied hunts for food items
    • Not spending a fortune on Christmas food, just getting what we need and in small portions
    • Sticking to a meal plan for all of December so far
    • Getting the wrapping done early
    • Getting my boss's agreement to try other opportunities within the business for two days a week, as I had got stuck in a rut and was feeling very down about it.
    • Making homemade onion chutney and lemon curd for friends and relatives
    • Finding a book in a charity shop I had been after for ages
    • Watching the cats play with each other and having fun
    • Watching my favourite Scrooge film with Alistair Sims
    • Seeing one of the three Sansevierias babies that I took off the mother plant a few months ago has taken and sprouted a new leaf.
    • Making red cabbage by my grandmother's recipe and being transported back in time to my Nan's kitchen by the smells and flavour
    • DH winning the office lottery to get two extra days off over christmas, so we'll be at together for the whole time.
    • Watching a documentary on the making of The Pogue's Fairy Tale of New York, one of my favourite Christmas songs

And one anticipated pleasure: tonight I will be watching "It's a wonderful life" with a mug of mulled wine and a roaring fire.

    Merry Christmas everyone:xmassign:

    Hey CottageE

    Monday pleasures,

Hitting a sweet spot at the emporium, it was busy but not overly so and apparently people had been queuing outside at 7am to come in, when we left they were struggling to get in the car park, phew.

Visited pet store for small dog’s pressie and saw three very small pups being kitted out, silent prayer that they had all won the good home lottery.

On to feed store for girlie’s chaff, the staff there had the shop doors wide open as apparently a partridge had wandered in and taken up residence, drove round the corner and saw a shoot in full swing so wonder if that was the reason!

Saw the beautiful grey one, she was in a very affectionate mood and kept blowing kisses on my face.

Iced the cake, just the top as I’m not keen on marzipan and royal icing as that’s what Capt S prefers.

Christmas Uni Challenge started and snap on Escape to the Chateau HE

Pleasures - coming home this morning after a night shift to find the animals had passed the night peacefully without wrecking the place.

    Christmas lights on.

Trying some of my luxurious advent calendar toiletries.

Pioneer Woman and Jamie Oliver on the Food Network Channel giving me inspiration.

In a few minutes, taking dog out for a stroll to admire the neighbourhood Christmas lights.

Wishing a memorable and content Christmas to one and all.
